ParallelsRAS_MCP: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/parallels-ras/SKILL.md

parallels-ras is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from RMITBLOG/ParallelsRAS_MCP. It costs 57 tokens per session (1,076 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide and REST client for Parallels Remote Application Server, a system that publishes remote desktops and applications to users. It can inspect and explain farms, sites, gateways, brokers, hosts, sessions, policies, and settings, with write operations restricted by configuration.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to query RAS environments, troubleshoot connections and resource placement, look up Parallels documentation, and discover supported write operations when enabled.
Why use it?
It gives developers a way to investigate and manage this remote-access infrastructure without needing the repository's separate MCP client.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00057 $0.01076
Opus 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00430
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00215
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00108

Security

Grade A, and why

parallels-ras scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 29d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/ras-query.mjs), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Parallels RAS

Parallels Remote Application Server (RAS) publishes applications and desktops from RD Session Hosts, VDI, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Remote PCs. A Farm can contain multiple Sites. Clients reach a Secure Gateway, which consults a Connection Broker for access and resource placement before connecting them to a host. Keep those roles and the Farm/Site scope distinct when interpreting API results. For the component model, common fault paths, and tool map, read RAS domain guide when the task involves diagnosis or explanation.

This skill uses a bundled local Node command to call the RAS REST API. It is an alternative to this repository's MCP server and needs no MCP client, npm installation, or source checkout. The runner exposes the same 41 RAS read queries and two Parallels documentation lookups. With RAS_ENABLE_WRITE=true, it also exposes write-operation discovery and one request tool for the documented v21.2 method/path catalog. The runner is a management client; it does not provide the separate Connection Broker API used for third-party session brokering.

Connect and discover

Use Node.js 18.14.1 or later on a machine that can reach the RAS REST API. Set RAS_HOST, RAS_USERNAME, and RAS_PASSWORD in the process environment for farm queries. Optional settings include RAS_PORT (default 20443) and RAS_IGNORE_TLS (default true). The TLS default permits common self-signed RAS deployments but disables certificate verification process-wide, including documentation lookups. Read the repository TLS guidance before using it on an untrusted network; RAS_IGNORE_TLS=false with NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS enables verification. Documentation lookups alone do not need RAS credentials.

Locate scripts/ras-query.mjs beside this file. Start with node <skill-directory>/scripts/ras-query.mjs list to see tool names and inputs. Use ras_farm_get_version for the REST Web Service version and ras_infra_get_sites when Site scope matters, then call only the queries relevant to the question. For example:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
