Clarion Template Authoring
Clarion's Application Generator (AppGen) builds source code by running templates against an
application's dictionary, windows, and the developer's prompt choices. A template is a text program
written in the Template Language (directives prefixed with #) interleaved with literal Clarion
source that is emitted verbatim. Mastering it means you can generate any boilerplate the developer
would otherwise hand-write, with a configurable UI in front of it.
This skill teaches you to write correct, idiomatic templates. Reference files (read them when the task touches their area — don't load all of them up front):

Where the corpus lives — <CLARION_ROOT>
Paths below use <CLARION_ROOT> = the root of the Clarion install you are working in: the folder that
contains both a bin\ and a template\win\ subtree. Resolve it per task, do not assume C:\clarion12:
- If you know the path of the
.tpl/.tpw/.appin play, walk up from it to the first ancestor folder that has bothbin\andtemplate\win\— that ancestor is<CLARION_ROOT>. - Machines often carry several side-by-side installs (10 / 11.0 / 11.1 / 12). Prefer the install that owns the file in play; when no file pins the version, ask the developer which install to use rather than assuming a specific folder name.
The canonical PDFs ship at <CLARION_ROOT>\docs\TemplateLanguageReference.pdf and TemplateGuide.pdf.
Real shipped templates live in <CLARION_ROOT>\template\win\ (ABC = AB*.TPW, classic = the rest) and
third-party examples in <CLARION_ROOT>\accessory\template\win\. When unsure of exact syntax, read a
shipped template that already does the thing you need — the corpus is the ground truth.
