web-retrieval

web-retrieval is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from russeell/jobfindsme. It costs 37 tokens per session (877 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A web-research skill for finding and reading public webpages, open-source projects, and academic sources before answering a question.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to research companies, technologies, code repositories, job listings, and academic papers, then cite the sources actually read.
Why use it?
It reduces unsupported answers by checking original documents and distinguishing verified facts from search leads, uncertainty, and inference.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00037 $0.00877
Opus 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00351
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00175
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00088

Security

Grade A, and why

web-retrieval scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 16d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

根据 source_runs、planned_queries 和 executed_queries 说明实际覆盖,不能仅凭返回的前十条推断其他来源/城市未搜索。
  • 公司、行业和技术:search_web(site="web");优先监管披露、原始论文、官方报告和产品文档。
  • 开源项目和实现:search_web(site="github") 搜仓库元数据,再 read_page 读仓库说明。
  • 学术问题:search_web(site="papers") 发现 arXiv、DOI 与论文会议原始来源,再 read_page 读论文原文。

  • 应用浏览器提供 browser_open、browser_snapshot、browser_search、browser_click、browser_next;元素 ref 只用于当前任务标签的最新结构快照,不操作用户浏览标签、不填写身份或投递。

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

web-retrieval is a skill published in the GitHub repository russeell/jobfindsme (24 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 37 tokens to every session and 877 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-02.
