file-upload

file-upload is a skill for Claude Code from ryan-haver/fusebase-mcp. It costs 35 tokens per session (864 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of file-upload, MIT.

A guide to uploading files in Fusebase apps, covering the path from a temporary upload to stored files and display URLs. It also explains how to create file descriptions for other apps.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when implementing file uploads, file storage flows, or file information passed to another app.
Why use it?
It removes uncertainty about the required stages and data when an app handles uploaded files.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00035 $0.00864
Opus 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00346
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00173
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00086

Security

Grade A, and why

file-upload scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

File Upload

This skill is the single source of truth for the low-level file upload lifecycle. Load Upload Lifecycle for the canonical tempStoredFileName -> storedFileUUID -> readUrl / relative url -> file descriptor flow. It also holds the three upload flows (presigned single PUT, multipart, note attachments), when to use each, and how an app lists and edits the organization's files through the Gate bucket-attachment operations.

Hard rules

  • Never store user file/binary bytes in a FuseBase PostgreSQL isolated store (base64 / bytea / data URL), including “MVP” shortcuts. Upload with this skill / Gate files ops; persist only storedFileUUID, readUrl, and small metadata in SQL or dashboard cells.
  • Needing files.write is not a reason to put attachments in SQL. Sync Gate permissions (fusebase app update <appId> --sync-gate-permissions) instead.
  • Visitor / anonymous / public-link apps: browser visitor tokens usually cannot call files.write. Broker upload on the app feature backend with FBS_FEATURE_TOKEN, then return storedFileUUID / readUrl to the client.
  • Public app files (createBucketAttachment without private): the url does not expire. Removing the file stops a link to the attachment, but older public links can keep opening it, so make a file private when it must stop opening later. Store the globalId; use the url as is, never build, prefix or parse it.
  • Private app files (createBucketAttachment with private: true): store the globalId, never the url; the url is a signed link that expires (at most 1 day). Get fresh links with listBucketAttachments and attachmentIds, and use them as is. See Private files.
  • Ordinary isolated-SQL write/execute paths are not the 64MiB importIsolatedStoreSqlRows cap — practical bodies are ~100–150 KB. Do not design attachments against SQL payload size.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
