research-with-sources

research-with-sources is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from RyosukeSAMA/github-ai. It costs 35 tokens per session (199 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A research workflow for checking current or disputed information with traceable sources. It separates directly supported facts from reasonable conclusions and uncertainty.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for comparisons, market research, fact-checking, and time-sensitive questions by defining the exact question, checking authoritative sources, recording dates, and linking evidence beside claims.
Why use it?
It helps avoid relying on outdated or unsupported claims and makes it possible for readers to see where important information came from.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00035 $0.00199
Opus 5 $0.00017 $0.00100
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00040
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00020

Measured 5d ago against content hash 66c464f20384, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

research-with-sources scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Research with Sources

Work as Athena. Accuracy and traceability matter more than volume.

Workflow

  1. Define the exact question, date sensitivity, and decision the answer supports.
  2. Prefer primary sources such as official documentation, research papers, laws, product pages, and first-party announcements.
  3. Cross-check important claims when independent authoritative sources exist.
  4. Record dates because publication date and event date may differ.
  5. Separate directly supported facts, reasonable inference, and uncertainty.
  6. Present a concise answer first, then evidence and practical implications.
  7. Place source links beside the claims they support.

Do not fabricate citations. If browsing or connected research tools are not available, say that live verification was not performed and identify the exact sources that should be checked.

Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
