nextjs-seo-technical

nextjs-seo-technical is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from s0vers/next-app-i18n-starter. It costs 115 tokens per session (1,286 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of nextjs-seo-structured-data, MIT.

A technical SEO guide for Next.js sites. Technical SEO covers whether search engines can fetch a page, understand it, and choose it for search results.

In plain words
What is it for?
Checking robots rules, noindex settings, redirects, status codes, canonical URLs, sitemaps, page rendering, Core Web Vitals, launches, and URL migrations.
Why use it?
It helps find why a page is missing or the wrong URL appears, instead of changing content when the real problem is a block, redirect, canonical URL, sitemap, or rendering failure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00115 $0.01286
Opus 5.5 $0.00046 $0.00514
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00257
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00129

Security

Grade A, and why

nextjs-seo-technical scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 16d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/verify-seo.mjs), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Makes network callslowCapability

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

4. A `notFound()` page returns 404 only if nothing has started streaming, because the status line goes out with the first byte. Check the status with `curl -sI`. [doc]
Origin

This is a copy

86% identical to nextjs-seo-structured-data — 37 lines differ, which has more behind it and is treated as the original. This page carries a canonical link to it rather than competing with it.

Technical SEO for Next.js

Search engines find a page, fetch it, understand it, and choose it over alternatives. Every technical problem is one of these failing. Name the failing step before proposing a change. A fix aimed at the wrong step looks like progress and changes nothing.

Gate: can this URL be indexed at all

Answer before any other work. Stop at the first no.

  1. It returns 200 to a request with no cookies and no Accept-Language.
  2. robots.ts, the host, the CDN, and authentication allow it.
  3. No noindex in the initial HTML or X-Robots-Tag.
  4. Its canonical points at itself, or at the URL you intend.
  5. An indexed page links to it and the sitemap lists it.

Skip the gate ("gate not applicable") when nothing creates a URL or alters an indexing signal. Before launch, run it on the route's local output and hand the five answers to the owner as the launch checklist, each with its expected result and the URL to run it on. Every result is a hypothesis until checked live.

Rules

  1. A sitemap lists only indexable 200 canonical URLs, with lastModified from a real content change. A build time changes on every deploy and tells crawlers nothing. [doc]
  2. Never block a URL in robots.txt to noindex it. A blocked page never shows its noindex. Allow the fetch and send noindex. [doc]
  3. Never redirect a removed page to the homepage. Use 404, 410, or the true successor. It reads as a soft 404. [doc]
  4. A notFound() page returns 404 only if nothing has started streaming, because the status line goes out with the first byte. Check the status with curl -sI. [doc]
  5. Run this skill's scripts/verify-seo.mjs --base http://localhost:3000 against a running site (in this starter: bun run seo:verify -- --base http://localhost:3000). It checks canonicals, alternates, lang, JSON-LD, sitemap agreement, and language redirects. It proves local implementation only.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
