security-review

security-review is a skill for Claude Code from saajunaid/caddis-plugin. It costs 15 tokens per session (1,378 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for reviewing software and cloud infrastructure for security problems. It uses OWASP guidance and code-scanning practices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to perform security reviews, apply OWASP checks, and scan code or infrastructure.
Why use it?
It helps identify weaknesses in application code and cloud setups before they cause harm.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00015 $0.01378
Opus 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00551
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00276
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00138

Security

Grade A, and why

security-review scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Runs shell commandslowCapability

Expected in a hook, worth knowing in a rule or an instructions file.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 206 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Security Review

On Claude Code, prefer the native /security-review. It is a command, not a skill, so it always fires — including headless — and it has grown capabilities this one does not have: Reach for it first.

This surface remains because caddis ships to harnesses that have no native equivalent — agy, Codex and Copilot. There it is the only review you get. Do not delete it to tidy up Claude Code.

/caddis:cross-review is NOT replaced by either. It sends the diff to a different vendor's model, which neither this nor the native reviewer can do.

When to Use

  • Implementing authentication or authorization
  • Handling user input or file uploads
  • Creating or modifying API endpoints
  • Working with secrets, deploying to cloud, or configuring CI/CD

Phase 1: OWASP Top 10 Checks

A01 — Broken Access Control

# BAD — no auth check
@app.route("/admin/users")
def list_users():
    return db.query(User).all()

# GOOD
@app.route("/admin/users")
@require_role("admin")
def list_users():
    return db.query(User).all()
  • Every endpoint checks authentication
  • Role-based access control enforced
  • Users cannot access other users' data (IDOR)

A02 — Cryptographic Failures

# BAD: password_hash = hashlib.md5(password.encode()).hexdigest()
# GOOD:
from passlib.hash import argon2
password_hash = argon2.hash(password)
  • Passwords hashed with bcrypt/argon2
  • Sensitive data encrypted at rest and in transit
  • No secrets in source code or logs

A03 — Injection

# BAD: cursor.execute(f"SELECT * FROM users WHERE email = '{email}'")
# GOOD:
cursor.execute("SELECT * FROM users WHERE email = %s", (email,))
  • All queries parameterized or use ORM
  • No eval(), exec(), or os.system() with user input

A05 — Security Misconfiguration

  • Debug mode disabled in production
  • Default credentials changed
  • Unnecessary endpoints disabled

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

security-review is a skill published in the GitHub repository saajunaid/caddis-plugin (0 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 15 tokens to every session and 1,378 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (runs shell commands). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
