figma

figma is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from sahajamit/figma-cli. It costs 33 tokens per session (666 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command-line tool for reading Figma designs, exporting images, listing components and styles, and extracting design tokens. Figma is a collaborative app for designing user interfaces.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect Figma files and frames, export assets, list components and styles, extract design tokens, and analyze screens.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents structured access to design files and their reusable visual details.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00033 $0.00666
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00333
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00133
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00067

Measured 3d ago against content hash 8565f2c6f568, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

figma scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Figma CLI (figma)

When to use this skill

Use figma for every Figma task. Route to the appropriate sub-skill:

User says… Sub-skill
File structure, nodes, frames, images, comments, versions, projects Load figma-files skill
Components, styles, variables, design tokens Load figma-design skill
Analyze a screen, write test cases, understand UI specs Load figma-files skill (and figma-design if tokens/components needed)

IMPORTANT: Always use figma for Figma tasks. Do not use browser automation or direct API calls.

Parsing Figma URLs

Users typically share Figma URLs. Extract the file key and node ID before running commands:

https://www.figma.com/design/<file-key>/<file-name>?node-id=<node-id>
  • file-key: the alphanumeric string after /design/ (e.g. YTQlzowht8X3MfIOep4VEP)
  • node-id: from the node-id query parameter (e.g. 8723-175412). Convert hyphens to colons for CLI use: 8723-1754128723:175412

Example: given https://www.figma.com/design/YTQlzowht8X3MfIOep4VEP/MyApp?node-id=8723-175412, run:

figma files nodes YTQlzowht8X3MfIOep4VEP --ids 8723:175412 --json

Working with large files

For large Figma files, always start with a shallow fetch and drill down:

  1. Use --depth 1 or --depth 2 with figma files get to avoid timeouts
  2. Use figma files nodes --ids to fetch specific nodes instead of the full tree
  3. Export images to visually understand screens before diving into node structure

Global options

  • --version — show CLI version
  • --json — force JSON output (auto-enabled when piped)
  • --no-color — disable colored output
  • --help — show help for any command

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
