domain-model

domain-model is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from sammcj/agentic-coding. It costs 75 tokens per session (834 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of domain-modeling, Apache-2.0.

A disciplined practice for defining the important concepts and boundaries of a software project. It uses a glossary and architecture decision records, which are short notes explaining significant technical choices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Clarifying domain terms, testing the model against edge cases, maintaining project context, and recording decisions as the system changes.
Why use it?
It reduces confusion about what terms mean, how parts of the system relate, and why key design decisions were made.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00075 $0.00834
Opus 5 $0.00037 $0.00417
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00167
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00083

Security

Grade A, and why

domain-model scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Domain modelling

Actively build and sharpen the project's domain model as you design. This is the active discipline - challenging terms, inventing edge-case scenarios, and writing the glossary and decisions down the moment they crystallise. Merely reading CONTEXT.md for vocabulary is not this skill; that is a one-line habit any skill can do. This skill is for when you are changing the model, not just consuming it.

File structure

Most repos have a single context:

/
├── CONTEXT.md
├── docs/
│ └── adr/
│ ├── 0001-event-sourced-orders.md
│ └── 0002-postgres-for-write-model.md
└── src/

If a CONTEXT-MAP.md exists at the root, the repo has multiple contexts. The map points to where each one lives:

/
├── CONTEXT-MAP.md
├── docs/
│ └── adr/ ← system-wide decisions
├── src/
│ ├── ordering/
│ │ ├── CONTEXT.md
│ │ └── docs/adr/ ← context-specific decisions
│ └── billing/
│ ├── CONTEXT.md
│ └── docs/adr/

Create files lazily - only when you have something to write. If no CONTEXT.md exists, create one when the first term is resolved. If no docs/adr/ exists, create it when the first ADR is needed.

During the session

Challenge against the glossary

When the user uses a term that conflicts with the existing language in CONTEXT.md, call it out immediately. "Your glossary defines 'cancellation' as X, but you seem to mean Y - which is it?"

Sharpen fuzzy language

When the user uses vague or overloaded terms, propose a precise canonical term. "You're saying 'account' - do you mean the Customer or the User? Those are different things."

Discuss concrete scenarios

When domain relationships are being discussed, stress-test them with specific scenarios. Invent scenarios that probe edge cases and force the user to be precise about the boundaries between concepts.

Cross-reference with code

When the user states how something works, check whether the code agrees. If you find a contradiction, surface it: "Your code cancels entire Orders, but you just said partial cancellation is possible - which is right?"

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
