NewsBlur: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/commit-pr/SKILL.md

commit-pr is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from samuelclay/NewsBlur. It costs 125 tokens per session (4,058 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for committing changes, opening or updating a GitHub pull request, and checking its automated checks and review conversations. A pull request is a proposal to merge a branch into a shared codebase.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to commit and push work, create or update a pull request, watch CI checks, resolve review threads, and mark the pull request ready for review.
Why use it?
It treats a change as unfinished until the current version passes required checks and has no unresolved automated review comments. This avoids stopping after only pushing a branch.

About the project

NewsBlur is a personal RSS news reader and social network that displays stories, the original sites they come from, and tools for filtering and discussing them. Readers use it to follow subscriptions, train story preferences, search and tag articles, share reading, and optionally self-host the service. The catalogue entries provide commands, skills, instructions, hooks, and settings for working with the NewsBlur project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00125 $0.04058
Opus 5.5 $0.00050 $0.01623
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00025 $0.00812
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00406

Measured 9d ago against content hash b70f37f0fe67, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

commit-pr scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 238 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

/commit-pr

Commit pending changes and open or update a PR, then watch CI and the automated review bots through to green and resolved. Adapted for NewsBlur from the Tavus skillshare commit-pr skill; the CI and review-thread loop is the same, the repo specifics are NewsBlur's.

Goal: what "done" means

The goal is a verified-clean PR, not a pushed branch. Immediately before ending the turn, re-run the live checks and confirm all of the following on the current head SHA:

  1. Every required check is green (gh pr checks).
  2. Zero unresolved Claude/Codex review threads (the GraphQL query in section 6, run fresh; never trust a result from before the last push).
  3. The PR is marked ready for review. Draft is this skill's starting state, never its ending state, unless the user explicitly asked for a draft in this run.

Review-task state, not a fixed delay, decides when the review wait is over. Ending the turn while a review workflow is queued or running, or while an unresolved automated review thread exists, is a failure of this skill. If no review check is pending for the current head, run the final thread query immediately; do not wait out a timer. Every wait is on a known action: each pending check belongs to a workflow whose recent run durations are queryable (section 5), so size the wait from that record, never from a guessed interval.

If genuinely blocked (a review check is stuck, CI is broken by something outside this PR, a comment needs a decision only Sam can make), end the turn by stating exactly what is unresolved and why. Never imply the PR is clean when the final verification did not run or did not pass.

NewsBlur specifics

Thing Value
Repo samuelclay/NewsBlur, default branch main
PR template none; use the body the caller supplies, else the generic default at the bottom
CI on pull requests tests.yml (Django Tests, job test), ios-actions.yml (iOS Tests, only when the PR touches clients/ios/ or that workflow), android-actions.yml (Android Tests)
Review bots on pull requests claude-pr-review.yml (Claude PR Review) and codex-pr-review.yml (Codex PR Review); both run on open, reopen, ready_for_review, and every synchronize. Each posts its top-level summary once, on the PR's first review; later pushes add inline threads only, or nothing when clean
Commit subjects Plain imperative sentence, no conventional prefix (Fix, Add, Never ration ...). Match git log --oneline -10.
Commit trailers The attribution lines from the current session's system reminder (Co-Authored-By, Claude-Session)
PR footer 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) then the session URL, per the session reminder
Labels Whatever the caller asks for (forum for forum-triage PRs)
Python style Black line length 110, isort profile black, flake8
Tests Run inside Docker: docker exec -t newsblur_web[_<worktree>] python manage.py test <scope> --noinput -v 1. Never a local Python.
Worktrees Feature work lives in .worktree/<branch> with containers newsblur_*_<branch>; see CLAUDE.md

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

commit-pr is a skill published in the GitHub repository samuelclay/NewsBlur (7,680 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 125 tokens to every session and 4,058 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-14.
