davinci-resolve-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/resolve-conform/SKILL.md

resolve-conform is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from samuelgursky/davinci-resolve-mcp. It costs 108 tokens per session (2,160 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for conforming and finishing video timelines in DaVinci Resolve, including reconnecting media and checking an edited timeline against a reference. Conforming means rebuilding the final timeline from editing instructions and source media.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to import or relink editorial work, inspect a conform frame by frame, repair retimed material, trace grades, or create an importable timeline file when Resolve is not connected.
Why use it?
It helps handle common problems when moving a project from offline editing into finishing, such as missing media, changed clip timing, reversed subclips, or grades that need tracing.

About the project

davinci-resolve-mcp is an MCP server that lets AI assistants control DaVinci Resolve Studio through its scripting API, including editing, media organization, rendering, grading, and other project tasks. It is for users who want agents to operate Resolve and inspect media through a local control panel. The catalogue entries support agent workflows for this Resolve integration.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00108 $0.02160
Opus 5 $0.00054 $0.01080

Security

Grade A, and why

resolve-conform scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Resolve Conform / Interchange

Bridges online-editing / finishing craft to this repo's tools.

  • Craft / finishing — the global online-editor skill (conform, relink, finishing philosophy in Resolve and Flame). Use for how a finishing editor thinks, not tool mechanics.
  • Live tool mechanicsdocs/kernels/timeline-conform-interchange-kernel.md (the timeline conform/interchange boundary).
  • Offline conform engineresolve-advanced/README.mdconform, color_trace, offline_ref, editorial, drt, project_db.

No Resolve? The work does not have to stop

timeline author_offline writes an importable timeline (drt / otio / edl) from a file-path clip plan without any connection, and every not-connected error now carries an offline_alternative block pointing at it.

Say plainly what happened: the live operation failed and a file was written — the timeline is not in a project until someone imports it. Read the warnings back too. media_tc_origin_assumed is the one that matters: OTIO source frames are timecode-absolute, and an event without media_start_tc_frame imports as an empty timeline with no error at all.

Default to drt (Resolve-native, project version 17 / Resolve 21.0 — older builds need drt downgrade). Pick otio when the plan carries retimes; a .drt flattens them.

What this build cannot do (check before you offer it)

The scripting API changes per patch release, so "Resolve 21" is not a usable label. Read resolve_control get_versionbuild.unavailable_on_this_build before offering a gated surface; check_version_support asks about one named symbol. Gated on the relink/media side this domain leans on:
