web-misconfig-review

web-misconfig-review is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Samurai-goose/SPECTER-The-Illusive-Security-Protocol. It costs 39 tokens per session (1,492 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A security review skill for checking web servers, applications, and deployment settings for misconfigurations. It covers issues such as missing security headers, weak TLS, unsafe CORS, exposed directories, and poor error handling.

In plain words
What is it for?
Reviewing an authorized web application or its configuration files, HTTP response headers, TLS, CORS, credentials, directory listings, and deployment hygiene.
Why use it?
It helps find configuration choices that expose systems, reveal information, or weaken protection before deployment or during an audit.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.01492
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00746
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00298
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00149

Security

Grade A, and why

web-misconfig-review scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Web Misconfiguration Review

Purpose

Systematically review web server, application server, and infrastructure configuration for security misconfigurations that expose attack surface, leak information, or weaken security posture. Covers HTTP headers, TLS, CORS, error handling, directory listings, default credentials, and deployment hygiene.

Triggers

  • Recon analysis identifies configuration issues
  • User requests configuration security audit
  • Deployment configuration files available for review
  • HTTP response headers need analysis
  • New infrastructure or server configuration being reviewed

Required Inputs

Input Description Required
governance_context Active engagement governance record Yes
target Web application URL or configuration files Yes
config_files Server/app config files if available (nginx.conf, apache.conf, etc.) Recommended
http_responses Sample HTTP response headers from target Recommended

Workflow

  1. Scope Verification — Confirm target is within authorized scope.

  2. HTTP Security Headers Audit — Check response headers:

    Header Expected Risk if Missing
Content-Security-Policy Restrictive policy XSS, data injection
    X-Content-Type-Options nosniff MIME-type sniffing attacks
    X-Frame-Options DENY or SAMEORIGIN Clickjacking
    Strict-Transport-Security max-age=31536000; includeSubDomains Protocol downgrade
Referrer-Policy strict-origin-when-cross-origin or stricter Information leakage
Permissions-Policy Restrict unnecessary features Feature abuse
Cache-Control no-store on sensitive pages Data caching
X-Powered-By Should not exist Technology fingerprinting
Server Generic or absent Version fingerprinting
  3. TLS/SSL Configuration — Review:

    • TLS 1.2+ enforced (TLS 1.0/1.1 disabled)
    • Strong cipher suites only (no RC4, DES, 3DES, export ciphers)
    • HSTS enabled with sufficient max-age
    • Certificate validity and chain
    • Certificate transparency
    • OCSP stapling configured
    • No mixed content (HTTP resources on HTTPS pages)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

web-misconfig-review is a skill published in the GitHub repository Samurai-goose/SPECTER-The-Illusive-Security-Protocol (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 39 tokens to every session and 1,492 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
