lfi-path-traversal

lfi-path-traversal is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from sanjaysaini1952/BugBounty-Arsenal. It costs 0 tokens per session (397 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A security-testing checklist for finding local file inclusion and path-traversal flaws, where user input may access files outside the intended directory.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when testing file parameters in web applications for directory traversal, encoded traversal, file filtering, or related inclusion weaknesses.
Why use it?
It gives testers example inputs for checking whether a file parameter can expose unintended local files or enable further attacks.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is ../../../etc/passwd.

Good fit Use it when testing file parameters in web applications for directory traversal, encoded traversal, file filtering, or related inclusion weaknesses.

It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00397
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00198
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00079
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00040

Security

Grade A, and why

lfi-path-traversal scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

LFI / Path Traversal Hunting Skill — 6 Test Cases

Load when: LFI, local file inclusion, path traversal, directory traversal.

186. Basic LFI (easy)

Test every file parameter with: ../../../etc/passwd, ....//....//....//etc/passwd, %2e%2e%2f. Report file content in response.

187. LFI with null byte (easy)

If PHP <5.3.4: ../../../etc/passwd%00. Report null byte truncation.

188. LFI with encoding (medium)

Double URL encode: %252e%252e%252f, UTF-8 overlong: %c0%ae%c0%ae/, null bytes: %00.

189. LFI to RCE via log poisoning (hard)

Inject PHP code into User-Agent, then LFI /var/log/apache2/access.log to execute it.

190. LFI via /proc/self/environ (hard)

LFI /proc/self/environ if PHP running as CGI. Inject payload in User-Agent.

191. LFI via php://filter (medium)

Use php://filter/convert.base64-encode/resource=config.php to read source code.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

lfi-path-traversal is a skill published in the GitHub repository sanjaysaini1952/BugBounty-Arsenal (2 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 397 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
