Getting it into your agent
It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |

| Fable 5.1 | $0.00151 | $0.03754 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00060 | $0.01502 |

Grade A, and why
powerbi-fabric-apps scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 16d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 342 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Fabric Apps with the Rayfin SDK
Fabric Apps (preview) is a managed backend-as-a-service inside Microsoft Fabric. You
declare the data model as TypeScript classes with decorators; Rayfin provisions the SQL
database, Entra SSO, a GraphQL data API, file storage, Functions and static hosting, and
deploys all of it as one Fabric item with npx rayfin up.
For powerbi-agent the headline use is the fabric-semanticmodel connector: an app that
executes DAX against an existing Power BI semantic model with delegated user identity, so
you can ship a bespoke analytical front end on a model you already govern — without
embedding, without a service principal, and without the Execute Queries REST API in your
own code.
Rule zero: route, don't improvise
Never write Rayfin API code from memory. The decorator set, the client generics, the connector packages and the deployment surface are version-locked per project, and they move fast in preview. Remembered signatures are routinely wrong against the installed version.
Order of authority, highest first:
.agents/skills/rayfin/SKILL.mdin the project — the version-matched skill the CLI installs. If it exists, it wins over this file for every in-project specific.rayfin docsCLI and the package READMEs undernode_modules/@microsoft/rayfin-*.AGENTS.mdat the project root, when the template ships a capability router.- Microsoft Learn: Fabric Apps overview, CLI reference.
This skill owns getting there and the Power BI bridge. Once you are inside a project,
load .agents/skills/rayfin/SKILL.md and follow it.
If you can reach none of those sources, say so and stop. Do not offer a "general approach" or placeholder code — fabricated Rayfin APIs are the specific failure this discipline exists to prevent.
Prerequisites
| Requirement | Check |
|---|---|
| Node.js 20+ | node --version |
| Rayfin CLI | npx rayfin --version (installs on demand; or npm i @microsoft/rayfin-cli) |
| Fabric capacity on the target workspace | fab ls then check the workspace capacity, or the portal |
| Tenant setting Fabric Apps (preview) enabled | Fabric admin portal → Tenant settings |
| Tenant setting Semantic Model Execute Queries REST API enabled | only for the fabric-semanticmodel connector |
| Contributor / Member / Admin on the workspace | fab acl ls or the portal |
| Build + Read on the semantic model | only for the fabric-semanticmodel connector |
| Supported region | region availability — Fabric Apps is not in every region |
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

powerbi-fabric-apps is a skill published in the GitHub repository santoshkanthety/powerbi-agent (3 stars, last pushed 17d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 151 tokens to every session and 3,754 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-07.
