In plain words
What is it for?
Reading and searching lists, adding or changing items, crossing items off, restoring them, and using list data in terminal scripts.
Why use it?
It lets an agent manage shopping lists from terminal commands and keeps crossed-off items instead of permanently deleting them by default.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00083 $0.01232
Opus 5 $0.00042 $0.00616
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00246
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00123

Security

Grade A, and why

ourgroceries-cli scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

OurGroceries CLI

Overview

Use the @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp CLI for OurGroceries operations. Prefer the CLI when the user wants concrete list data, scriptable JSON output, or terminal-driven mutations.

Critical Rule: Never Permanently Remove Items

MANDATORY: Never call remove-item. Always use cross-off-item instead.

Whenever the user asks to remove, delete, eliminate, erase, take off, get rid of, drop, scratch, take out, or any equivalent verb in any language (e.g. Spanish "quitar", "eliminar", "borrar", "sacar"; Catalan "treure", "eliminar", "esborrar"; French "enlever", "supprimer"; German "entfernen", "löschen"; etc.), treat the request as a cross-off and run cross-off-item.

This applies even when the user explicitly says "remove" or "delete" — the user's intent is to clear the item from the active list, and crossing it off preserves history and OurGroceries' learning behavior. Never use remove-item unless the user explicitly insists on permanent deletion after being told that cross-off is the default and confirms they want destructive removal anyway.

Authentication

The CLI reads saved credentials first, then OURGROCERIES_AUTH_COOKIE and OURGROCERIES_TEAM_ID.

If credentials are missing, tell the user to run:

npx -y @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp login

Do not ask the user for their OurGroceries password in chat. Do not pass passwords on the command line. logout removes the saved config file and does not modify environment variables:

npx -y @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp logout

Read Workflow

Start with lists unless the user already gave a listId:

npx -y @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp get-lists

Use IDs from that output for focused reads:

npx -y @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp get-active-items --list-id LIST_ID
npx -y @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp get-crossed-off-items --list-id LIST_ID --search "milk" --limit 20
npx -y @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp get-categories
npx -y @sergib/ourgroceries-mcp get-settings

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
