nodel-frontend

nodel-frontend is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from scroix/nodel-skills. It costs 74 tokens per session (834 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for building dashboards served by Nodel, a platform that exposes device or service controls through browser pages. It works with XML page definitions plus optional CSS and JavaScript.

In plain words
What is it for?
Creating or revising Nodel dashboards, adding controls and event bindings, styling responsive layouts, and testing browser-side behaviour.
Why use it?
It helps developers connect dashboard controls to the Nodel node's real actions and events instead of guessing their names or structure. It also includes guidance for rendering the page and checking browser and node errors.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00074 $0.00834
Opus 5 $0.00037 $0.00417
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00167
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00083

Security

Grade A, and why

nodel-frontend scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Nodel Frontend Development

Build and revise the XML dashboards served from a Nodel node's content directory.

Workflow

  1. Inspect the node's actions, events, and existing content files before choosing controls.
  2. Create or update content/index.xml, keeping custom CSS and JavaScript optional.
  3. Start with the minimal dashboard below and bind components to the node's real action and event names.
  4. Read the component reference before choosing tags or relying on an attribute.
  5. Read the pattern guide when composing a complete dashboard, adding custom styling, or handling dynamic behavior.
  6. Render the page against a running Nodel node and check the browser console as well as the node console.

File Layout

nodes/My Node/
├── script.py
├── nodeConfig.json
└── content
    ├── index.xml
    ├── css
    │   └── custom.css
    └── js
        └── custom.js

Minimal Dashboard

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="v1/index.xsl"?>
<pages title='Dashboard' css='css/custom.css' js='js/custom.js'>
  <page title='Main'>
    <row>
      <column xs='12' sm='6'>
        <title>Power</title>
        <button action='Power' arg='On'>Turn On</button>
        <status event='Power'>Current power</status>
      </column>
    </row>
  </page>
</pages>

Remove the css or js attribute when the corresponding file does not exist.

Critical Renderer Constraints

  • Keep the v1/index.xsl processing instruction. Nodel transforms the XML through that stylesheet.
  • Use the stock component tags and attributes instead of assuming arbitrary HTML passes through.
  • Lay out pages with the Bootstrap 3 twelve-column grid (xs, sm, md, and lg).
  • Use <image source='...'>, not <img>. Always provide source, including for event-backed images.
  • Place <input> directly under <header>; the built-in rendered input type is checkbox.
  • Put <row> elements directly under <footer>.
  • Setting core on <pages> skips custom CSS and JavaScript loading.
  • Do not listen for a nodel-event DOM event. The renderer updates bound elements directly; observe the property it changes when custom JavaScript must react.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
