AsnRecon

AsnRecon is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from SecurityTalent/bugskill-ai. It costs 69 tokens per session (991 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A network-reconnaissance tool that finds a company’s Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) and IPv4 address ranges using BGP data. An ASN identifies a network operated by an organisation on the internet.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to look up a company’s ASN, discover its IPv4 ranges, or map its wider network footprint.
Why use it?
It can reveal company-owned network space that ordinary DNS and subdomain searches may miss.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00069 $0.00991
Opus 5 $0.00034 $0.00495
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00198
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00099

Security

Grade A, and why

AsnRecon scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AsnRecon

Discover a company's network footprint by finding their ASNs and owned IPv4 ranges using bgp.he.net.

Why This Matters: Companies often own IP space that isn't discoverable through DNS. Finding ASNs and IP ranges reveals infrastructure that subdomain enumeration misses - data centers, cloud deployments, legacy systems, and internal networks.

Workflow Routing

When executing a workflow, output this notification directly:

Running the **WorkflowName** workflow from the **AsnRecon** skill...
Workflow Trigger File
FindAsn "find ASN", "ASN lookup", "company ASN" workflows/FindAsn.md
FindIpRanges "find IP ranges", "IPv4 prefixes", "owned IP space" workflows/FindIpRanges.md
FullAsnRecon "full ASN recon", "network footprint", "all IP ranges" workflows/FullAsnRecon.md

Examples

Example 1: Full ASN reconnaissance (RECOMMENDED)

User: "Find the IP ranges owned by Acme Corp"
→ Invokes FullAsnRecon workflow
→ Searches bgp.he.net for "Acme Corp"
→ Identifies all ASNs associated with the company
→ Extracts IPv4 prefixes from each ASN's Prefixes V4 tab
→ Outputs {company}-asn-report.md with all ranges
→ User has complete network footprint for testing

Example 2: Find company's ASN numbers

User: "What ASNs does Netflix own?"
→ Invokes FindAsn workflow
→ Searches bgp.he.net free-form for "Netflix"
→ Lists all ASN numbers with organization names
→ Outputs ASN list for further investigation

Example 3: Get IPv4 prefixes for known ASN

User: "Show me the IPv4 ranges for AS2906"
→ Invokes FindIpRanges workflow
→ Fetches bgp.he.net/AS2906#_prefixes4
→ Extracts all IPv4 CIDR ranges
→ Outputs list of IP ranges for scanning

Data Source

bgp.he.net - Hurricane Electric's BGP Toolkit

  • Free to use, no authentication required
  • Free-form search by company name, ASN, IP, or prefix
  • Comprehensive BGP routing data
  • Shows origin ASNs, prefixes, and relationships

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

AsnRecon is a skill published in the GitHub repository SecurityTalent/bugskill-ai (6 stars, last pushed 20d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 69 tokens to every session and 991 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
