recent-funding-rounds

recent-funding-rounds is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from SELAT-AI/selat-skills. It costs 95 tokens per session (1,070 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A tool for finding recent news reports about companies that raised money, such as seed or Series A funding. It searches by industry or topic and returns article details.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find recent funding rounds in a sector, such as artificial intelligence or fintech, and review the reporting source, publication date, and deal details.
Why use it?
It removes the need to search many news sites manually. Because the results are articles rather than a complete funding database, funding dates, round types, and amounts may need checking in the articles.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00095 $0.01070
Opus 5 $0.00048 $0.00535
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00214
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00107

Security

Grade A, and why

recent-funding-rounds scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

When To Use

Use when the user wants to discover companies that have raised funding recently in a given sector. Typical triggers: "what companies raised funding this week?", "show me recent seed rounds", "latest Series A deals in fintech". The skill issues a single MPP on Tempo call to Brave Search's /brave/news-search and returns recent news articles announcing funding rounds.

Be honest about what comes back: Brave news-search returns news articles about funding rounds (headline, snippet, source, publish date, URL) — it is not a structured funding database. There is no server-side filtering by exact date range, round type, or deal size; those signals live in the article text. Fold them into the query wording (e.g. a "seed" or "Series A" mention in sector) and extract deal details from the returned articles.

Workflow

  1. Install: selat skill install recent-funding-rounds
  2. Run: selat skill run recent-funding-rounds --sector "artificial intelligence"
  3. The CLI compiles the single step into a selat-pay call, routes it through the SELAT Router (which pays Brave Search via Locus over MPP), and prints a ✓/✗ summary.

Step:

  • Step 1 — Brave Search POST /brave/news-searchMPP on Tempo via the SELAT Router. Queries "${sector} startup funding round announced" against Brave's news index; returns recent news articles covering funding announcements in that sector.

To bias toward a round type, include it in sector (e.g. --sector "fintech seed"); news search naturally surfaces recent coverage, so "this week / this month" style asks are served by the recency of the news index rather than an explicit date filter.

Inputs And Outputs

Param Required Default Description
sector yes artificial intelligence Sector/industry in plain words, interpolated into the news query

Outputs: news-search results — a list of articles, each with title, description/snippet, source, publish age/date, and URL. Company names, round types, and deal sizes must be read out of the article text; the response is news coverage, not structured deal records.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
