salesforce-metadata

salesforce-metadata is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from semwalajay83-sem/salesforce-metadata-mcp. It costs 114 tokens per session (1,639 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A natural-language interface for Salesforce, a cloud service for managing customer data and business processes. It uses a connected server to inspect and change objects, fields, rules, workflows, code, permissions, reports, and records in a Salesforce organization.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps build, inspect, query, and update Salesforce organizations, including custom data structures, automation, Apex code, Lightning web components, reports, and permissions.
Why use it?
It removes the need to remember the names and order of many Salesforce administration tools and checks whether the required connection and version are available.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00114 $0.01639
Opus 5.5 $0.00046 $0.00656
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00328
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00164

Security

Grade B, and why

salesforce-metadata scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Subtle steeringmediumPrompt injection

Instructions that bias recommendations or shape behaviour without the user noticing.

Never tell the user a capability is missing until `sf_find_tool` has come back empty.

Salesforce Metadata (salesforce-metadata-mcp)

This skill drives the salesforce-metadata-mcp MCP server (228 tools). It tells you which tools to reach for, in what order, and what to check so changes land correctly the first time.

0. Check the server is connected

Look for tools named sf_* (e.g. sf_describe_object, sf_find_tool). If none exist, the server is not installed — give the user the setup in references/setup.md and stop. This skill needs server version 3.2.1 or later; if sf_create_agent has no agentType parameter, the server is older — ask the user to update (npx -y salesforce-metadata-mcp@latest).

1. Finding the right tool (lazy toolsets)

Only the core and metadata toolsets are loaded at start, to save context. The rest (flows, apex, security, lwc, agentforce, omnistudio, devops, reports…) are one call away:

  1. Don't know the tool name? Call sf_find_tool with a plain-English query ("create permission set", "activate flow"). It auto-loads the group and, for narrow matches, returns the input schema inline.
  2. Know the group? Call sf_load_toolset (see sf_list_toolsets for the 34 groups). Load flows before building any Flow.
  3. Tool still not callable after loading? Some clients don't refresh their tool list. Do not retry or give up — call sf_tool_schema with { "tool": "<tool name>" } to get the schema, then sf_call_tool with { "tool": "<tool name>", "arguments": { ... } }. It runs the same validation and safety checks as a direct call.

Don't guess parameter names. If you're not certain of a tool's inputs (e.g. sf_retrieve_metadata takes metadataType + componentName), call sf_tool_schema first — one cheap call beats a validation error and a retry.

Never tell the user a capability is missing until sf_find_tool has come back empty.

Use the MCP tools, not a shell. Do the work through sf_* tools — don't write local source files or switch to the Salesforce CLI. A shell deploy goes to whatever org the CLI defaults to, which may not be the org the user connected this server to.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

salesforce-metadata is a skill published in the GitHub repository semwalajay83-sem/salesforce-metadata-mcp (2 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 114 tokens to every session and 1,639 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (subtle steering). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-21.
