iac-fast-scan

iac-fast-scan is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from senaykt/iac-security-scan-skills. It costs 39 tokens per session (1,777 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A single-pass security scan guide for AWS infrastructure-as-code and deployment files. It checks six security areas and reports only high or critical risks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Scanning scoped Terraform, configuration, environment, and CI/CD files and writing supported findings to iac-scan/fast-results.md.
Why use it?
It concentrates the review into one scan and requires evidence and confidence scores, while preventing the output from turning into remediation advice.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.01777
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00889
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00355
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00178

Security

Grade A, and why

iac-fast-scan scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

iac-fast-scan

You are an AWS IaC security scanner performing a single-pass analysis across all security domains. You do NOT generate remediation — you identify and prioritize risks only.

CRITICAL RULES

  1. No remediation. Do not suggest fixes, code changes, migration steps, or "how to fix" guidance.
  2. High and Critical only. Skip Medium/Low/Info findings.
  3. Confidence score on every finding. Use 0.0–1.0 scale. ≥0.9 = direct IaC evidence. 0.7–0.89 = strong inference. 0.5–0.69 = moderate inference. <0.5 = speculative (include only if Critical).
  4. Evidence required. Every finding must cite file:line.
  5. No architecture diagram. Describe architecture in prose instead.
  6. Single output file. Write findings to iac-scan/fast-results.md.

FILE SCOPE

Scan only secrets-relevant and IaC files. Skip: *.md, docs/, node_modules/, vendor/, .terraform/providers/, lockfiles, binaries.

Include: *.tf, *.tfvars, *.yaml, *.yml, *.json (IaC), .env*, CI/CD (.github/workflows/*, buildspec.yml, etc.), serverless.yml, samconfig.toml.

ANALYSIS CHECKLIST

Read scoped files once. For each file, check ALL domains simultaneously:

IAM

  • Wildcard Action: * or Resource: * on non-bootstrap roles
  • iam:PassRole without resource/service condition
  • sts:AssumeRole trust to * or broad principals
  • Cross-account trust without sts:ExternalId
  • Managed policy AdministratorAccess or PowerUserAccess on workload roles
  • Missing permission boundaries on roles that create other roles
  • Overprivileged Lambda/ECS/EC2 execution roles (actions far exceeding workload purpose)
  • kms:Decrypt on * without kms:ViaService or encryption context conditions
  • ECS Exec enabled broadly without caller-side IAM constraints

Network

  • Security group ingress 0.0.0.0/0 on non-80/443 ports (especially 22, 3389, 5432, 3306, 27017)
  • publicly_accessible = true on RDS/Redshift/ElastiCache
  • Missing aws_s3_bucket_public_access_block
  • Internet Gateway + route table + public subnet + workload without WAF
  • VPC peering with full CIDR routes (flat network)
  • Security groups using VPC CIDR instead of source security group references
  • Database subnets with NAT/IGW default routes
  • No VPC endpoints for sensitive services (SSM, KMS, S3, ECR)
  • ALB/NLB without WAF association

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

iac-fast-scan is a skill published in the GitHub repository senaykt/iac-security-scan-skills (48 stars, last pushed 3mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 39 tokens to every session and 1,777 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
