figma-apply-effects

figma-apply-effects is a skill for Codex from sergekostenchuk/ui-ux-agent-skill-system. It costs 96 tokens per session (852 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A Figma tool for adding, removing, checking, and linking visual effects such as shadows, blur, noise, texture, and glass effects. Figma is a design tool for creating interface layouts and graphics.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to apply or remove effects, reuse effect styles, connect supported effect settings to variables, inspect existing effects, or translate terms like glow and glassmorphism into effect settings.
Why use it?
It helps manage visual effects consistently and checks whether the requested effects are supported by the available Figma connection.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00096 $0.00852
Opus 5 $0.00048 $0.00426
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00170
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00085

Security

Grade A, and why

figma-apply-effects scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Figma Apply Effects

Use this skill for Figma Effects. It replaces the outdated rule that Figma supports only four effect types. Current Figma Plugin typings include shadow, blur, noise, texture, and glass effect families, but MCP/client support can lag behind typings, so advanced effects are runtime-gated.

Modes

  • apply: add one or more effects to selected nodes.
  • remove: remove all effects or selected effect families.
  • style: apply an existing Effect Style.
  • bind: bind supported effect fields to variables.
  • audit: inspect current effects and compatibility.
  • recipe: translate visual language like glow, glassmorphism, soft elevation, grit, or texture into effect objects.

Required Workflow

  1. Confirm target node(s), visual intent, whether to replace or append effects, and privacy scope.
  2. Invoke figma:figma-use before any use_figma call.
  3. Read the selected node metadata first: effects, fills, style IDs, variable bindings, and current opacity.
  4. If the user asks for an existing Effect Style, search/select that style first and apply the style if available.
  5. If raw effects are needed, use references/effect-compatibility.md to choose the effect family.
  6. For BACKGROUND_BLUR, check that the node has a visible fill with alpha below 1; otherwise the blur will be visually hidden.
  7. For glow, use a DROP_SHADOW recipe: bright color, offset: { x: 0, y: 0 }, larger radius, and low-to-medium alpha.
  8. For variables, bind only supported fields. Shadow effects support color, radius, spread, offsetX, and offsetY; blur effects support radius; noise, texture, and glass effects currently do not support variable binding in Figma plugin typings.
  9. Write the returned bound effect object back to the node's effects array.
  10. Read metadata back and report exact effects, bindings, skipped fields, and visual caveats.

Effect Families

Guaranteed core families when the runtime exposes standard Figma effects:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
