figma-code-to-canvas

figma-code-to-canvas is a skill for Codex from sergekostenchuk/ui-ux-agent-skill-system. It costs 85 tokens per session (468 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A tool for turning a browser-rendered webpage back into editable layers in Figma. Figma is a collaborative design application, and this works with live, local, or public web pages when the required Figma tools are available.

In plain words
What is it for?
Capturing local or public pages, recreating them in Figma, comparing generated layers with the source UI, and documenting visible differences.
Why use it?
It helps reconcile the coded interface with the design file when the website has changed ahead of the original design.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00085 $0.00468
Opus 5 $0.00043 $0.00234
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00094
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

figma-code-to-canvas scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Figma Code To Canvas

Use this skill for the reverse direction: code or browser UI into Figma canvas. This is tool-availability-sensitive and privacy-sensitive.

Modes

  • capture-local: convert a local dev server page into Figma layers.
  • capture-public: convert a public URL into Figma layers.
  • capture-private: plan a safe path for authenticated/staging pages.
  • reconcile: compare generated Figma layers with the source UI and list drift.
  • fallback: produce manual rebuild instructions when code-to-canvas tools are unavailable.

Workflow

  1. Confirm URL/app source, viewport, target Figma file/page, and privacy class.
  2. For local pages, start or verify the dev server and capture a screenshot before Figma generation.
  3. If code-to-canvas or generated design is requested, invoke the installed figma:figma-generate-design skill when present.
  4. Do not send private authenticated pages, cookies, customer data, or internal URLs through remote services without explicit approval.
  5. After generation, read back Figma metadata or capture a Figma screenshot when possible.
  6. Produce a reconciliation report: source URL, viewport, generated target, visible mismatches, and follow-up edits.

Output Shape

Use assets/code-to-canvas-report.md.

Fallbacks

  • If Figma MCP is unavailable: provide a manual frame/component rebuild plan.
  • If the page cannot be reached: request a screenshot/export and route to figma-canvas-editor.
  • If privacy blocks remote generation: keep the work local and describe a human-assisted import route.

Resources

  • Read $CODEX_SKILLS_DIR/senior-figma-orchestrator/references/figma-mcp-compatibility.md before promising capability.
Files

What ships with it

3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
