producing-animated-episodes

producing-animated-episodes is a skill for Claude Code from shaharsha/claude-skills. It costs 126 tokens per session (2,430 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A configuration-driven engine for producing narrated animated episodes from photos, scripts, chat exports, or story ideas. It creates timed shots, subtitles, audio, animation, and lip-sync for a complete episode.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to make voiced vertical videos with recurring characters, multilingual or right-to-left text, music, subtitles, and timed scene assembly.
Why use it?
It keeps timing based on the finished dialogue audio, reducing mistakes when joining speech, shots, subtitles, and mouth animation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00126 $0.02430
Opus 5.5 $0.00050 $0.00972
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00025 $0.00486
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00243

Security

Grade A, and why

producing-animated-episodes scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 15d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 18 executable files (engine/audio.py, engine/config.py, engine/demo.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Producing animated episodes

Overview

A vertical, voiced, subtitled, animated episode: character art, panels, cloned or library voices, music, image-to-video clips and lip-sync, cut by an engine that times every shot from the real dialogue audio. One episode.json holds the whole project, and engine/episode.py runs every phase from it. The sibling skills do the provider work.

Use the engine; don't write your own edit scripts. Timeline, overlays, subtitles, right-to-left text, the mix, durations and lip-sync joins are already in engine/. It was proven by rebuilding a real 3.5-minute episode: identical frames, identical audio, and the exact length the original had missed. A hand-written edit rediscovers every bug in references/troubleshooting.md.

The audio is the master. Shot lengths, subtitle times and lip-sync parts come from the finished dialogue files. Never estimate a timing from text.

You can't watch or hear. You check frames, durations and numbers. The human judges likeness, voices, pronunciation, timing and jokes. Plan their gates and keep them.

Requires:

  • These skills next to this one: image-generation, elevenlabs-tts, generating-video-clips.
  • Python 3 with pip install -r <this-skill-dir>/requirements.txt (Pillow built with RAQM, numpy; OpenCV optional).
  • ffmpeg 7 or newer.
  • Fonts: styles and subtitles name font keys (bold, hblack, black in the example) that fonts maps to installed .ttf files. For Hebrew and Latin, Rubik and Heebo (free, Google Fonts) work well; check blocks on a missing one.
  • Keys in env vars, set in every shell that runs the engine: OPENAI_IMAGE_API_KEY, ELEVENLABS_API_KEY, GEMINI_API_KEY, FAL_KEY.

To see the whole pipeline work with no API calls, run python3 <this-skill-dir>/engine/episode.py /tmp demo, then check and build the demo project it creates.

The pipeline and its gates

Every gate is a stop: send the artifact, ask, wait. Commands are python3 <this-skill-dir>/engine/episode.py PROJECT <command>. Costs measured 2026-10.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
