cluster-cli: Skill for Codex

.agents/skills/release-cluster-cli/SKILL.md

release-cluster-cli is a skill for Codex from sharat/cluster-cli. It costs 77 tokens per session (1,948 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A release workflow for a Rust command-line project on GitHub. It checks the repository state, version and tag conditions, prepares release notes, and requires confirmation before creating or pushing a release tag.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check whether a release is ready, compare releases or tags, choose a semantic version, prepare notes, and monitor a confirmed release.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of releasing from the wrong branch, with uncommitted changes, or with a mismatched version. Read-only checks let you assess readiness without changing the repository.

Skill for Codex

Written for Codex: agents/openai.yaml present. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is sharat/cluster-cli's own configuration. It tells Codex how to work on cluster-cli itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything cluster-cli configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00077 $0.01948
Opus 5.5 $0.00031 $0.00779
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00390
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00195

Security

Grade A, and why

release-cluster-cli scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Cluster CLI releases

Prepare a release before making any remote change. Treat tagging and pushing as explicit confirmation steps.

Preconditions

Run these checks before proposing a version or touching release files:

git status --short --branch
git branch --show-current
git fetch --tags origin
git tag --sort=-version:refname | head -n 1

Require all of the following for an actual release:

  • Current branch is exactly main; refuse on every other branch.
  • Working tree is clean.
  • main is synchronized with origin/main; do not release an unpushed or divergent commit.
  • Proposed vX.Y.Z is a valid, unused semver tag and matches version in Cargo.toml.

For a comparison or dry run, report failed preconditions but continue read-only where possible.

Preflight check

For release check, answer one question: is this repository in a releasable state right now? This command is strictly read-only. It never commits, stages, tags, pushes, fetches into a branch, or touches any GitHub resource, so it is safe to run at any time, on any branch, without confirmation.

Run only inspecting commands:

git branch --show-current
git status --short --branch
git fetch --tags origin
git rev-list --left-right --count origin/main...HEAD
git tag --list "v$(grep -m1 '^version' Cargo.toml | cut -d'"' -f2)"
cargo fmt -- --check
cargo clippy -- -D warnings
cargo test --verbose

git fetch is the only remote call and it updates remote-tracking refs only; never pull, merge, or rebase from this command.

Evaluate each gate independently and keep going after a failure so the user sees the full picture:

  • Branch — current branch is exactly main.
  • Worktree — no staged, unstaged, or untracked changes.
  • Sync — main and origin/main point at the same commit, with no ahead or behind counts.
  • Version — version in Cargo.toml has no matching existing vX.Y.Z tag.
  • Format — cargo fmt -- --check exits clean.
  • Lint — cargo clippy -- -D warnings exits clean.
  • Tests — cargo test --verbose passes.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
