Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00050 | $0.00486 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00025 | $0.00243 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00010 | $0.00097 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00005 | $0.00049 |
Grade A, and why
build-portable scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 35 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Build Portable
Run the deterministic project script from the repository root:
pnpm run desktop:portable
The script builds the frontend, builds the Tauri release with the required custom-protocol feature, copies the executable, creates the versioned ZIP, and prints SHA-256 hashes.
Portable ZIP filenames and ZIP top-level directories are versioned. The expanded latest-build directory is stable and versionless (dist-portable/Coding.Tools.MCP_x64_portable) so each successful build replaces it instead of accumulating extracted copies.
Guardrails
package.jsonis the single source of truth for the release version. For every new requested portable release build, runpnpm run version:patchexactly once before compiling. This updates the source version and synchronizes the package/Cargo metadata;src-tauri/tauri.conf.jsonreads the version directly frompackage.json. A retry of the same failed build only rerunspnpm run desktop:portableand does not increment again.- Never package an executable produced by bare
cargo build --release. Withoutcustom-protocol, Tauri treats the binary as development mode and navigates tohttp://localhost:1420. - Never copy an older executable after a build timeout or failure. Keep the existing package unchanged and report the build error.
- If running Cargo manually for diagnosis, include
--features custom-protocol. - Treat the release compile-time error in
src-tauri/src/main.rsas intentional; use the portable script instead of bypassing it. - Build the ZIP from isolated staging. If the expanded portable executable is running and locked, accept the warning and deliver the newly generated ZIP; do not terminate the user's app implicitly.
Verify
After the script succeeds:
- Confirm the stable expanded folder contains
Coding Tools MCP.exe. - Confirm the versioned ZIP contains its versioned top-level folder and executable.
- Report the ZIP path, byte size, and SHA-256 hash.
- Launch the packaged executable when desktop interaction is available and confirm it renders embedded UI rather than
localhost.
What ships with it
1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

build-portable is a skill published in the GitHub repository shelizi/coding-tools-mcp (0 stars, last pushed 15d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 50 tokens to every session and 486 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
