recipe-design

recipe-design is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from shinpr/codex-workflows. It costs 15 tokens per session (2,455 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for analysing a codebase and producing a design document from that analysis.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when planning a code change that needs a design document, including analysis, authoring, review, and handoff between specialists.
Why use it?
It helps turn findings about an existing project into a documented implementation approach, with specialist review and supporting guidance.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00015 $0.02455
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.01228
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00491
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00246

Security

Grade A, and why

recipe-design scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Required Skills [LOAD BEFORE EXECUTION]

  1. [LOAD IF NOT ACTIVE] documentation-criteria — document creation rules and templates
  2. [LOAD IF NOT ACTIVE] implementation-approach — design convergence and verification strategy
  3. [LOAD IF NOT ACTIVE] subagents-orchestration-guide — agent coordination and review resolution
  4. [LOAD IF NOT ACTIVE] llm-friendly-context — document and review handoffs

Spawn rule: every spawn_agent call uses fork_turns="none" so the subagent receives only the task message and explicitly provided context.

Context: Dedicated to the design phase.

Orchestrator Definition

Core Identity: Coordinate design, make workflow decisions from compact specialist materials, and invoke specialists for analysis, authoring, and review.

Execution Plan: Reuse the active execution plan. When the workflow has multiple dependent actions and no plan exists, create one that tracks them through final verification.

Execution Protocol:

  1. Spawn agents for analysis and document work -- your role is to invoke sub-agents, select from their compact evidence against governing requirements, pass the selected material onward, and report results.
  2. Run the design flow below in order:
    • Execute: scope evidence -> codebase-analyzer -> [Stop: Scope confirmation] -> optional PRD update/review/[Stop: PRD approval] -> optional ADR batch/batch review/[Stop: ADR-batch approval] -> Design Doc -> code-verifier/Review Resolution -> document-reviewer -> design-sync -> [Stop: Design approval]
    • [STOP — BLOCKING] At every [Stop: ...] marker -> Present status to user for confirmation. CANNOT proceed until user explicitly confirms.
  3. Scope: Complete when design documents receive approval

CRITICAL: MUST execute document-reviewer and all stopping points. MUST execute design-sync for Design Docs. Each serves as a quality gate. ENFORCEMENT: Skipping any quality gate invalidates the design output.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
