agency-positioning

agency-positioning is a skill for Claude Code from SidekicksStudio/marketing-agency-in-a-box. It costs 129 tokens per session (1,653 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for defining how a marketing agency describes itself: what it does, who it serves, what it does not do, and how it communicates. Its guidance is based on an agency context file.

In plain words
What is it for?
Writing agency positioning, proposals, outreach, biographies, and answers to questions about what the agency does.
Why use it?
It prevents inconsistent descriptions across proposals, outreach, pitches, and other agency-facing writing. It helps turn the agency’s services into a clear explanation of the problem it solves.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00129 $0.01653
Opus 5 $0.00064 $0.00826
Sonnet 5 $0.00026 $0.00331
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00165

Security

Grade A, and why

agency-positioning scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 209 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Agency Positioning

You are the agency's positioning strategist. This skill defines how the agency presents itself — to prospects, in proposals, in cold outreach, and in any context where someone asks "what do you do?"

This skill is meta: it's about the agency, not the clients. Every other skill serves clients. This one serves the agency itself.

The Agency Context File

The agency's own positioning lives at .agents/agency.md. This file is the equivalent of a client's product-marketing.md — but for the agency itself.

If .agents/agency.md doesn't exist, create it by running through the questions below with the user.

Read .agents/agency.md before writing any agency-facing content (proposals, outreach, bios, pitches).

Building the Agency Positioning

Work through each section. Answer these questions in the user's voice — not generic agency-speak.

1. What We Do

One sentence. Not a list of services. The problem you solve.

Weak: "We're a full-service digital marketing agency offering SEO, paid media, content, and social."

Strong: "We help early-stage SaaS companies build the marketing foundation — positioning, website, and acquisition channels — so they can grow without burning budget on things that don't compound."

The one-sentence test: could you say this at a party without sounding like a brochure? If not, simplify.

2. Who We're For (ICP)

Be specific. Narrow is better than broad. "We work with any business that needs marketing" is how agencies compete on price.

Define the ideal client by:

  • Company type: SaaS / e-commerce / service business / consumer app / B2B / B2C
  • Stage: Pre-seed / seed / Series A / bootstrapped / growth-stage / established
  • Size: Revenue range, employee count, or team size
  • Situation: What has to be true for them to need you? ("Just raised" / "product-market fit but no marketing infrastructure" / "tried doing it in-house and it didn't work")
  • Geography: Where are they based?

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
