voice-integration

voice-integration is a skill for Claude Code from signalcompose/claude-tools. It costs 60 tokens per session (1,195 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for adding spoken notifications to Claude Code through text-to-speech, which converts written messages into audio. It covers voice language, speech rate, and related CVI settings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when configuring voice notifications, changing speech settings, or producing an audio summary after completing work.
Why use it?
It removes the need to remember the required voice-notification procedure when a task finishes. It also helps keep spoken summaries in the configured language and format.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00060 $0.01195
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.00598
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00239
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00120

Security

Grade A, and why

voice-integration scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Voice Integration Guide

This skill provides guidance on using CVI (Claude Voice Integration) for voice notifications in Claude Code.

MANDATORY: Task Completion Pattern

Every task completion MUST follow this exact pattern:

[detailed task explanation...]

<use Skill tool: skill="cvi:speak" args="2-3 sentences explaining what was done">

CRITICAL: Use Skill tool, NOT text

  • ❌ Do NOT write /cvi:speak xxx as text
  • ✅ Use Skill tool with skill="cvi:speak" and args="your message"
  • ❌ Do NOT use [VOICE] tag - it's deprecated

Why Skill tool only (no [VOICE] tag)?

  • The Skill result (Speaking: ...) serves as the visible summary
  • Single source of truth - no duplication or mismatch
  • Skill tool /cvi:speak: Triggers macOS notification + Glass sound + voice

If you forget to use Skill tool:

  • ❌ Stop hook will BLOCK your stop request
  • ❌ No voice notification will play
  • ❌ User will not hear task completion

Language Configuration

The summary language is controlled by VOICE_LANG in ~/.cvi/config:

VOICE_LANG Summary Language
ja Japanese: args="タスクが完了しました。..."
en English: args="Task completed successfully..."

Important: Always check ~/.cvi/config before calling /cvi:speak.

When to Use /cvi:speak

Always use when:

  • File editing/creation completed
  • Test execution completed
  • Command execution completed
  • Research/investigation completed
  • Error resolution completed
  • Any task completion

Exception (no notification needed):

  • When asking user questions/confirmations

Configuration Commands

Command Purpose
/cvi Enable/disable voice notifications
/cvi:speed Adjust speech rate (wpm)
/cvi:lang Set [VOICE] tag language (ja/en)
/cvi:voice Select voice for each language
/cvi:auto Enable language auto-detection
/cvi:check Diagnose setup issues
/cvi:practice Toggle English practice mode
/cvi:speak Directly speak text (bypasses Stop hook timing)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

voice-integration is a skill published in the GitHub repository signalcompose/claude-tools (4 stars, last pushed 10d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 60 tokens to every session and 1,195 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
