implement-change

A set of instructions for making code changes in RepoGrammar, a project that uses MCP to expose tools to AI agents. It defines the required reading, implementation workflow, documentation updates, tests, and repository checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it whenever changing source code, command-line behavior, tests, automation, or runtime boundaries in RepoGrammar. It is not intended for documentation-only edits.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent process for changing behavior while preserving the project's architecture and documentation. It also helps catch formatting, linting, test, and repository-policy problems before completion.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00028 $0.00411
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00205
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00082
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00041

Security

Grade A, and why

implement-change scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Purpose

Provide the default implementation workflow for scoped code changes.

Trigger conditions

Use when editing src/, changing CLI behavior, adding tests, changing repository automation, or touching product runtime boundaries.

Required reading

  • AGENTS.md
  • docs/README.md
  • docs/architecture/module-map.md
  • docs/development/documentation-policy.md
  • Canonical specification for the touched module

Preconditions

  • Run git status --short --branch.
  • Preserve unrelated user changes.
  • Decide whether the change is a major feature requiring a branch.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Establish the smallest coherent scope.
  2. Read current implementation and related docs.
  3. Add or update tests before claiming behavior.
  4. Implement within the documented module boundary.
  5. Update relevant docs in the same commit.
  6. Run full verification.
  7. Stage explicit paths and review the staged diff.
  8. Commit with a Conventional Commit message.

Required verification

cargo fmt --all -- --check
cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --all-features -- -D warnings
cargo test --workspace --all-features
cargo run --quiet --bin repo-guard -- check
git diff --check

Documentation updates

Use the update matrix in docs/development/documentation-policy.md. Do not use CHANGELOG.md as a substitute for the canonical document.

Commit requirements

Use explicit path staging. Review git diff --cached --stat and git diff --cached before committing.

Completion report

Report branch, commit hash, branch cleanup status when merged, changed docs, commands run, and remaining risks.

Failure and rollback handling

Do not disable checks. If a change cannot pass, leave it uncommitted and report the exact blocker.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

implement-change is a skill published in the GitHub repository SioYooo/RepoGrammar (0 stars, last pushed 19d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 411 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
