unlink-workspace

unlink-workspace is a skill for Claude Code from Skyfox-io/Memex. It costs 58 tokens per session (446 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Memex workspace registry command that removes a workspace from the list used by cross-search. It leaves the workspace files unchanged.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to unlink a workspace from the global source registry, or choose a separate searchable setting when you only want to hide it temporarily.
Why use it?
It stops an archived or moved workspace from appearing in Memex searches while making clear that the files themselves are not deleted.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00058 $0.00446
Opus 5 $0.00029 $0.00223
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00089
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00045

Security

Grade A, and why

unlink-workspace scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/sources.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Wikilink rule: When referencing any file in markdown, always use [[filename]] wikilink format.

Remove a workspace's entry from ~/.memex/sources.md. The workspace files are not touched. Registry conventions and script-path resolution: memex/skills/cross-search/references/registry.md.

Step 1: Source name

Use $ARGUMENTS if provided. Otherwise run python3 "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/scripts/sources.py" list and ask which to unlink.

python3 "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/scripts/sources.py" remove <source-name>

If the name doesn't exist, surface the script's error.

Step 3: Confirm

Unlinked: <source-name>

Workspace files untouched. To re-register: /memex:link-workspace.

Gotchas

  • Unlink is destructive at the registry layer, not on disk. The workspace's _MANIFEST.md and closets remain. Don't pitch unlink as a "delete".
  • Prefer set-searchable false for temporary hides. Unlinking discards the registration date and forces a re-link to restore searchability. If the user just wants the source quiet for a while, point them to python3 "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/scripts/sources.py" set-searchable <name> false.
  • No undo. The registry has no history. Re-linking creates a fresh registered: date.
  • Name is the only key. If the user has multiple sources at similar paths, confirm by name before removing. The script does not prompt.
Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

unlink-workspace is a skill published in the GitHub repository Skyfox-io/Memex (17 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 58 tokens to every session and 446 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
