pilot-on

pilot-on is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Snowflake-Labs/cocoplus. It costs 14 tokens per session (738 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A session mode that activates CocoPilot, which can route work and prepare risk checks before certain actions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to turn on guided pilot behavior for the current CocoPlus session.
Why use it?
It helps apply the project’s configured operating rules during a session, including checks before actions that may be risky or irreversible.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00014 $0.00738
Opus 5 $0.00007 $0.00369
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00148
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00074

Security

Grade A, and why

pilot-on scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 59 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Your objective is to activate CocoPilot for the current session.

Behavior

  1. Verify .cocoplus/ exists.
  2. Create .cocoplus/modes/cocopilot.on.
  3. Create or update .cocoplus/lifecycle/pilot-session.json:
    • active: true
    • activated_at
    • session_id
    • empty arrays for suggestions, routed_inputs, and silent_actions when absent
  4. Check the first-run configuration gate:
    • If .cocoplus/lifecycle/cocoplus-init.json is absent or has confirmed: false, surface the five key settings before any dispatch: default warehouse, cost ceiling per run, production schema prefix, development schema prefix, and notification target.
    • Confirmed changes belong in cocoplus.toml; the confirmation receipt belongs in .cocoplus/lifecycle/cocoplus-init.json.
    • The gate is reset by $cocoplus reset-init.
  5. Read [cocopilot] premortem_enabled and premortem_warn_on_absent.
    • For any stage with premortem: true, allow_irreversible_actions: true, or require_outcome_verification: true, prepare a pre-dispatch pre-mortem before routing work.
    • Record three likely failure scenarios, prevention status, and any operator acknowledgment in PROGRESS.md before dispatch.
  6. Read .cocoplus/wisdom/SCHEMA.md when present.
    • If [wisdom].stage_mappings_enabled is not false and a ## Stage Mappings table matches the stage role, preload only the mapped positive wisdom topics.
    • Always load .cocoplus/wisdom/do-not-use.md when it exists.
    • For Snowflake task patterns, prefer the static Cortex MCP routing table over ad hoc capability guessing:
      • schema validation: OBJECT_DEPENDENCIES
      • SQL performance: QUERY_HISTORY
      • data quality: COLUMN_USAGE_VIEWS
      • governance review: policy, tag, masking, and role metadata views
  7. Output exactly: CocoPilot active. I'll take it from here.

Permission Boundary

CocoPilot may route, suggest, and perform reversible silent capture. It may not perform irreversible actions, bypass underlying feature approval gates, or override explicit developer instructions.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

pilot-on is a skill published in the GitHub repository Snowflake-Labs/cocoplus (720 stars, last pushed 9d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 14 tokens to every session and 738 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
