pod-kb

pod-kb is a skill for Claude Code from Snowflake-Labs/cocoplus. It costs 33 tokens per session (623 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A project knowledge-base viewer for patterns, decisions, and gotchas accumulated across coding sessions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to read the shared knowledge file and review the patterns and decisions available to future build tasks.
Why use it?
It keeps useful project-specific context visible so developers do not have to rediscover the same lessons.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.00623
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00311
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00125
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00062

Measured 6d ago against content hash 64f960f11da0, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

pod-kb scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 82 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

$pod kb

Display lifecycle/kb.md — the project-specific, session-spanning knowledge base populated by CocoCupper after each completed stage. Distinct from CocoGrove (team-level patterns) and CocoDream (prompt optimization lessons).

Preconditions

  • .cocoplus/ must be initialized

Step-by-Step Behavior

  1. Verify initialization: Check .cocoplus/ exists. If not, output: "CocoPlus not initialized. Run $pod init first." and exit.

  2. Check kb.md: Read .cocoplus/lifecycle/kb.md.

  3. If file does not exist or is empty:

    No project knowledge accumulated yet.
Run $build to begin a session — CocoCupper will populate the knowledge base
    after each completed stage.

    Exit.

  4. Count entries: Count entries in each section (## Patterns, ## Decisions, ## Gotchas).

  5. Display kb.md content:

Project Knowledge Base — [project name from project.md]
    [N] patterns · [M] decisions · [K] gotchas
Last updated: [date from git log on kb.md]
    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

[Full content of kb.md displayed as-is]

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
CocoScout loads this file for every Build task.
CocoCupper adds entries after completed stages.

kb.md Content Structure (for reference)

CocoCupper populates kb.md with entries in this format:

## Patterns
- [Pattern name]: [Description] — discovered in [session/phase]

## Decisions
- [Decision]: [Rationale] — [date]

## Gotchas
- [Pitfall]: [Description and how to avoid it]

Error Cases

  • kb.md does not exist: Display informational message and exit (not an error)
  • kb.md corrupted: Output warning: "kb.md appears to have formatting issues. Showing raw content:" and display raw content for manual inspection

Exit Criteria

This skill is complete when:

  • kb.md content is displayed (or the "not yet populated" message shown)
  • No files are written (this is a read-only display command)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

pod-kb is a skill published in the GitHub repository Snowflake-Labs/cocoplus (720 stars, last pushed 6d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 33 tokens to every session and 623 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
