snyk-vulnbench: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/cloc/SKILL.md

cloc is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from snyk-labs/snyk-vulnbench. It costs 80 tokens per session (1,184 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A code-size counting skill that uses cloc, a tool that counts lines in source files by programming language. It follows the repository's usual rules for excluding files.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to count lines in a repository or directory, compare project sizes, measure a test fixture, or run cloc on a named fixture.
Why use it?
It gives a consistent way to measure or compare code size without counting generated files or other excluded content.

This is snyk-labs/snyk-vulnbench's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on snyk-vulnbench itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything snyk-vulnbench configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00080 $0.01184
Opus 5.5 $0.00032 $0.00474
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00237
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00118

Security

Grade A, and why

cloc scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Instructions

Estimate project size with cloc and report the result without modifying the project. Use the standard exclusions below so dependency folders, generated artifacts, documentation, configuration, and common metadata do not inflate the estimate.

Step 1: Resolve the directory

Accept one directory argument from the user's request.

  1. If the argument is an existing directory, use it.
  2. If the existing directory contains a direct project/ child and looks like a fixture root, use that child so findings.json and fixture-only assets are not counted.
  3. Otherwise, if the argument is a fixture name, resolve it from the repository root as fixtures/<argument>/project.
  4. If neither path exists, stop and ask the user for a valid directory or the exact fixture name. Do not guess from partial matches.

When the request names a fixture but the current directory is not the repository root, determine the repository root with git rev-parse --show-toplevel before resolving fixtures/.

Done when: you have one existing source directory and can report its resolved path.

Step 2: Verify prerequisites

Check that cloc is available with command -v cloc. If it is missing, report that clearly and let the user install it; do not install packages automatically.

Step 3: Run the standard count

Run this command recursively against the resolved directory. Preserve the exclusions unless the user explicitly asks to change them:

cloc \
  --exclude-ext=json,md,markdown,yml,yaml,svg \
  --exclude-lang=Dockerfile \
  --exclude-dir=.git,node_modules,dist,build,target \
  "<resolved-directory>"

Quote the directory path so names containing spaces work. Do not add --include-lang unless the user explicitly asks for only particular languages. Without that flag, cloc reports every recognized language remaining after the standard exclusions.

Done when: cloc exits successfully and produces its language summary.

Step 4: Report the estimate

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cloc is a skill published in the GitHub repository snyk-labs/snyk-vulnbench (4 stars, last pushed 14d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 80 tokens to every session and 1,184 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
