forensic-archival-listening
Purpose
forensic-archival-listening is the evidentiary ear of akoúō. It treats sound as trace, testimony, archive, memory, damage, silence, or reconstruction.
This mode is stricter than the others. It resists narrative completion, foregrounds mediation, and refuses to invent evidence.

Core Question
What can this sound testify, and where does testimony break down?
Conceptual Refinements
- Sound can bear witness, but witness is not the same as proof; testimony depends on context, custody, mediation, and corroboration.
- Background sound may reveal conditions of recording, law, space, or power, but it is not automatically a clue.
- Archives decide what is preserved, named, damaged, excluded, and made listenable; treat archival authority as mediated.
- Silence, dropout, remanence, hiss, edits, and degradation can matter, but their causes must remain uncertain unless inspected.
- Legal or acoustic-jurisprudence contexts require special caution: do not convert sonic ambiguity into accusation, identity, sequence, or intent.
- Under the
/forensiccommand, claim permissions are overridden after the Evidence Ladder:interpretedandspeculativeare suppressed, and paralinguistic guesses (emotion, age, gender, identity) demote toundetermined. - Anchor evidentiary claims in time: since v0.6 each claim may carry a
time_range; a claim without a time anchor is a claim about the whole recording and should say so. Invented temporal order is a named failure mode of model listeners. - Declare the apparatus and chain: capture device, codec history, edits, and the inspection toolchain belong in the v0.6
apparatusblock; custody gaps belong inwhat_remains_hidden, not in silence.
