mcp-codex-worker: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/worker-build-and-env/SKILL.md

worker-build-and-env is a skill for Claude Code from sorryorc/mcp-codex-worker. It costs 28 tokens per session (196 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for recreating a project's local setup, checking its Node.js runtime assumptions, and running its tests, build, and smoke checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when installing dependencies, diagnosing the environment, running tests or builds, checking network access, or inspecting the project's available commands.
Why use it?
It helps distinguish setup problems from code problems and keeps credentials out of tracked files. It also checks that caches and allowed working directories are placed correctly.

This is sorryorc/mcp-codex-worker's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on mcp-codex-worker itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything mcp-codex-worker configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.00196
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00098
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00039
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00020

Measured 8d ago against content hash 3d63780367ae, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

worker-build-and-env scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Worker Build And Env

Commands

npm install
npm run build
npm test
npm run smoke

Environment Checks

  • SANDBOX_ROOT must exist and contain allowed directories.
  • Gateway keys stay in env, never in tracked files.
  • WORKER_LITE_CACHE_DIR must be inside SANDBOX_ROOT.
  • Network checks require real gateway credentials; offline tests should not.

When Not To Use

Do not use this for production behavior design. Use worker-architecture-contract.

Verification

  • npm run doctor
  • npm run doctor:network when credentials are available

Provenance and maintenance

Re-check scripts with node -p "JSON.stringify(require('./package.json').scripts,null,2)".

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
