mcp-codex-worker: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/worker-diagnostics-and-tooling/SKILL.md

worker-diagnostics-and-tooling is a skill for Claude Code from sorryorc/mcp-codex-worker. It costs 29 tokens per session (279 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of procedures and commands for measuring a coding worker’s quality, cost, routing, output records, and reliability.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect metrics, audit routing records, enforce threshold checks, and validate the structure of a skill library.
Why use it?
It helps find problems such as excessive fallback use, missing output references, high tool-error rates, or unenforced reliability checks.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: installed under .claude/. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions Codex.

This is sorryorc/mcp-codex-worker's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on mcp-codex-worker itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything mcp-codex-worker configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00029 $0.00279
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00139
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00056
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00028

Measured 7d ago against content hash ee4489c01c6c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

worker-diagnostics-and-tooling scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Worker Diagnostics And Tooling

Tools

Command Reads Use
npm run stats Metrics JSONL Cost and route mix
npm run stats:gate Recent metrics CI-style route thresholds
npm run codex:audit Metrics and receipts Routing contract audit
npm run skills:validate .claude/skills Skill library structure

Interpretation

  • High fallback ratio means gateway degradation or bad primary config.
  • High start ratio means too much work is delegated as full implementation.
  • Missing artifact refs on large outputs means main-thread context can balloon.
  • Missing reliability gates in strict jobs are warnings unless enforced.
  • Overall worker tool error rate must stay below 5%.
  • Each individual tool error rate must stay below 3% once it reaches the sample floor.

When Not To Use

Do not use this for manual code review. Use worker-validation-and-qa.

Verification

  • npm run stats:gate
  • npm run skills:validate

Provenance and maintenance

Update this when scripts under scripts/ add or remove gate fields.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
