worker-external-positioning

worker-external-positioning is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from sorryorc/mcp-codex-worker. It costs 30 tokens per session (280 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Guidance for comparing a coding worker with agent frameworks, lower-cost model wrappers, benchmarks, and outside research.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to frame the roles of models, routing rules, skills, checks, evidence records, and the main decision-maker when discussing external alternatives.
Why use it?
It helps separate measured evidence from marketing claims, anecdotes, and unverified comparisons.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00030 $0.00280
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00140
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00056
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00028

Security

Grade A, and why

worker-external-positioning scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Worker External Positioning

Claim Rules

  • The project is a harness and routing layer, not proof that cheap models are smart.
  • Cost savings are credible only with metrics.
  • Reliability claims require checks, receipts, trajectory evidence, or eval cases.
  • Community anecdotes are leads, not proof.
  • Alleged leaked prompt analyses, including the Zhihu Fable 5 breakdown, are secondary signals. Use them to discuss harness structure, skill distillation, policy placement, and tool boundaries; do not present their contents as official vendor contracts.

Positioning Frame

  • Cheap model handles bulk work.
  • Harness limits damage with scope, receipts, artifacts, and checks.
  • Main Codex remains the final decision layer.
  • Skills preserve project doctrine for weaker sessions.
  • Large monolithic prompts are a warning sign for worker design: move stable doctrine into validated skills and keep runtime prompts small, scoped, and auditable.

When Not To Use

Do not use this for implementation details. Use worker-architecture-contract.

Verification

  • Cite primary sources for external claims.
  • Run local metrics before quoting project performance.

Provenance and maintenance

Revalidate market and model comparisons because they drift quickly.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
