arrange-component-set-figma is a skill for Claude Code from southleft/skills-for-figma. It costs 160 tokens per session (985 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of figma-arrange-component-set, MIT.

A procedure for turning a messy Figma component set—a collection of design variants—into a labeled grid organized by the variants' properties.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for arranging component variants into rows and columns, adding labels and headers, and placing them in a titled white container.
Why use it?
It makes related design variants easier to compare, understand, and present as documentation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00160 $0.00985
Opus 5 $0.00080 $0.00492
Sonnet 5 $0.00032 $0.00197
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00098

Security

Grade A, and why

arrange-component-set-figma scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/arrange-component-set.js), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 50 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

arrange-component-set-figma — labeled variant grid

Reorganize the variants inside a COMPONENT_SET into a tidy matrix: it parses each variant's properties (Size=md, State=hover), uses one property for columns and the rest for rows, centers each variant in a grid cell, and wraps everything in a white container frame with a title, left-edge row labels, and top column headers. The result is the kind of variant sheet you'd show in design-system docs.

Skill boundaries

  • use_figma rules — load the official figma-use skill first; it is the full Figma Plugin API reference. Essentials these scripts rely on: plain JS with top-level await + return (no IIFE, no figma.closePlugin(); console.log is not returned), inputs inlined as const at the top of each script, colors in 0–1 range, load fonts before any text op, await figma.getNodeByIdAsync(...), and atomic errors (a failed script applies nothing — read the error, fix, retry).
  • Understanding what the variants mean (state machine, CSS) → use analyze-component-set-figma.
  • This writes a new layout to the canvas — it is a design-system authoring capability the native MCP's get_design_context / get_metadata (read-only) do not cover.

Workflow

  1. Identify the set. Get the COMPONENT_SET_ID from selection, search, or a pasted id. (You can also leave the constant blank and select the set on the canvas — the script falls back to the current selection.)
  2. Pick the column axis (optional). By default the last variant property becomes columns (usually State); everything else becomes rows. Override with const COLUMN_PROPERTY.
  3. Run scripts/arrange-component-set.js via use_figma (skillNames: "arrange-component-set-figma"). Adjust GAP / CELL_PADDING constants if needed.
  4. Verify visually. Take a screenshot. The script returns containerId, the (re-created) componentSetId, and the grid shape (rows/columns, labels). Variants are centered per cell.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
