finance-research-agent: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/swot-study/SKILL.md

swot-study is a skill for Claude Code from sreenathvemula/finance-research-agent. It costs 123 tokens per session (1,705 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A structured company SWOT analysis: a review of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats supported by evidence. It tests internal advantages with VRIO—whether they create value, are uncommon, are hard to copy, and are properly supported—and examines markets and outside pressures.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to assess a company’s durable advantages, weaknesses, market opportunities, competitive pressures, and external risks.
Why use it?
Generic SWOT lists often repeat assumptions instead of checking them. This approach links each point to company data, competitors, industry conditions, and broader economic or regulatory factors.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00123 $0.01705
Opus 5 $0.00062 $0.00852
Sonnet 5 $0.00025 $0.00341
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00170

Security

Grade A, and why

swot-study scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

SWOT study

A SWOT is a synthesis, not a single tool call — and a list of generic bullet points ("strong brand", "competitive industry") is not a SWOT, it's a template. Internal factors (Strengths, Weaknesses) come from the company's own business and financials, tested for durability, not just asserted; external factors (Opportunities, Threats) come from its industry structure, competitors and the macro/regulatory backdrop, structured so nothing obvious gets skipped. Every point must be evidenced.

Procedure

  1. Resolve the symbol and establish what the company does — business_profile (revenue mix, KPIs, market share).

  2. Internal — Strengths & Weaknesses, tested with VRIO. For every candidate Strength, run it through the VRIO test before it earns the label:

    • Valuable — does it actually let the company exploit an opportunity or neutralise a threat (show up in margin, growth, or market share — not just asserted)?
    • Rare — do most competitors lack it, per competitive_position's peer benchmarking?
    • Inimitable — how hard/costly would it be for a competitor to replicate (regulatory licence, patent, network effect, switching cost, scale economics) vs easily copyable (a current low price, a temporary capacity edge)?
    • Organised to capture it — is the company's own capital allocation/execution actually converting the advantage into returns (capital_allocation, financial_health ROCE trend), or is the advantage real but poorly monetised? A claimed strength that fails Rare or Inimitable is a temporary advantage — label it that way, don't inflate it to a moat. Sources:
    • financial_health — durable growth, margins, ROCE, balance-sheet strength → candidate strengths; its concern/watch flags → weaknesses.
    • competitive_position — where it leads vs lags peers on operating metrics / market share (this is the Rare test's evidence).
    • forensic_checks + shareholding_trends — governance strengths or weaknesses.
    • capital_allocation — disciplined reinvestment / cash return (strength, and the Organised test's evidence) vs debt-funded or FCF-negative growth (weakness).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
