fileterm: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/fileterm-app-icons/SKILL.md

fileterm-app-icons is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from St0ff3l/fileterm. It costs 53 tokens per session (910 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for creating and fixing FileTerm's desktop application icons and their operating-system assets. It covers Dock, shortcut, window, taskbar, launcher, and tray artwork, but not file-type or general interface icons.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to edit source icon artwork and export assets for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Why use it?
It prevents platform exports from using the wrong source files, dimensions, transparency, or macOS spacing. It also separates application branding from other icon work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00053 $0.00910
Opus 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00364
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00182
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00091

Security

Grade A, and why

fileterm-app-icons scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

FileTerm application icons

Scope and source artwork

This skill covers the branded application icon and its operating-system assets. For file-type, folder, or general renderer icons, use the common-components skill.

Read platform and protocol contracts before changing platform outputs. The editable Icon Composer projects live in apps/tauri/assets/icons/source/. Export the Windows/Linux full-bleed masters directly to apps/tauri/src-tauri/icons/app/shared/{classic,material,clean}-1024.png; keep the macOS Dock images in apps/tauri/src/renderer/assets/app-icons/dock-{classic,material,clean}.png.

The source projects are FileTerm.icon, FileTerm-material.icon, and FileTerm-clean.icon, matching the classic, material, and clean variants. Their standalone SVG directories are svg/, svg-material/, and svg-clean/.

The 1024px Dock images keep a 100px transparent inset on each side (about 9.8%). macOS needs this inset so the icon does not look oversized. Windows/Linux exports have alpha bounds (0, 0, 1024, 1024), with no macOS safety inset; transparent corners belonging to the icon shape are preserved. Export these masters from the layered source rather than enlarging a cropped 824px Dock bitmap or a 256/512px output.

Platform differences

Taskbar and Dock icons use 1024×1024px artwork on all three platforms. Windows/Linux use full-bleed masters; macOS keeps its safety inset. Do not upscale a small tray bitmap for the taskbar or Dock.

  • macOS: the Dock uses dock-*.png; Finder, Launchpad, and the packaged app use the checked-in apps/tauri/src-tauri/icons/app/macos/icon.icns. The generator does not update either macOS asset. Update or verify the static ICNS separately when the default artwork changes. The menu-bar template icons in icons/tray/macos/ are a separate monochrome asset family.
  • Windows: both runtime window HICONs use 1024px PNGs through CreateIconFromResourceEx; Windows scales them for the taskbar and other window surfaces. The tray uses the derived 256px PNG. Shortcut/install ICOs retain their standard 16–256px frames and are generated from the 1024px master; do not try to put a nonstandard 1024px frame into these ICOs.
  • Linux: windows and runtime launchers use 1024px images from icons/app/shared/. Packages install the classic 1024px image into hicolor and pixmaps, alongside the smaller hicolor sizes. Package icons and tray images are full-bleed 8-bit RGBA. Preserve user-customized icons when changing launcher refresh behavior.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
