brainstorming

brainstorming is a skill for Claude Code from strigov/superpowers-strigov-ver. It costs 37 tokens per session (4,012 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A discussion process for turning a loosely described software idea into an agreed design. It explores requirements, compares possible approaches, and produces a design before implementation planning.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before creating a feature, component, or behavior change when the intended result still needs to be clarified and designed.
Why use it?
It helps uncover missing requirements and important trade-offs before code is written. This reduces the chance of building the wrong behavior or structure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00037 $0.04012
Opus 5 $0.00018 $0.02006
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00802
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00401

Security

Grade A, and why

brainstorming scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 4 executable files (scripts/helper.js, scripts/server.cjs, scripts/start-server.sh, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Brainstorming Ideas Into Designs

Help turn ideas into fully formed designs and specs through natural collaborative dialogue.

Start by understanding the current project context, then ask questions one at a time to refine the idea. Once you understand what you're building, present the design and get user approval.

Model split

You are the ORCHESTRATOR on the main thread. You drive the interactive dialogue — exploring context, asking clarifying questions one at a time, presenting design sections, getting approval, and transitioning to writing-plans.

Fable is invoked as a subagent for judgment work:

  • Proposing 2-3 approaches with trade-offs and a recommendation (checklist step 4).
  • Writing the final design doc and running the spec self-review (checklist steps 6-7).

Dispatch via Agent(subagent_type="general-purpose", model="fable", prompt=...). The prompt MUST begin with the literal keyword ultrathink on its own first line (before anything else) to run Fable at max thinking effort. The subagent has NO session context — the prompt must be fully self-contained (include the user's original request, the collected Q&A, project context you gathered, any constraints).

Fable fallback rule: Fable 5 is part of the Max plan at up to 50% of weekly usage limits, and its safety classifier occasionally falls back to Opus 4.8 on its own. If a Fable dispatch is unavailable (cap reached) or visibly downgraded, re-dispatch with model="opus" and TELL THE USER the spec was written by Opus, not Fable — never silently.

The main thread never writes the spec directly — dispatch Fable. Exception: the main thread runs git add / git commit after Codex xhigh returns APPROVED (mechanical orchestrator work — see "Codex xhigh Spec Review" below).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

brainstorming is a skill published in the GitHub repository strigov/superpowers-strigov-ver (4 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 37 tokens to every session and 4,012 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
