cron

cron is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Suge8/Bao. It costs 15 tokens per session (908 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A scheduler for reminders, recurring tasks, and one-time jobs. Cron is a system for running commands or tasks at specified times.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps send reminders, run agent tasks repeatedly, schedule one-time actions, use time zones, and list or remove scheduled jobs.
Why use it?
It removes the need to remember repeated work or manually trigger tasks on a schedule.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00015 $0.00908
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.00454
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00182
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00091

Security

Grade A, and why

cron scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Cron

Use the cron tool to schedule reminders or recurring tasks.

Three Modes

  1. Reminder - message is sent directly to user
  2. Task - message is a task description, agent executes and sends result
  3. One-time - runs once at a specific time, then auto-deletes

Examples

Fixed reminder:

cron(action="add", message="Time to take a break!", every_seconds=1200)

Dynamic task (agent executes each time):

cron(action="add", message="Check Suge8/bao GitHub stars and report", every_seconds=600)

One-time scheduled task (compute ISO datetime from current time):

cron(action="add", message="Remind me about the meeting", at="<ISO datetime>")

Timezone-aware cron:

cron(action="add", message="Morning standup", cron_expr="0 9 * * 1-5", tz="America/Vancouver")

List/remove:

cron(action="list")
cron(action="remove", job_id="abc123")

Time Expressions

User says Parameters
every 20 minutes every_seconds: 1200
every hour every_seconds: 3600
every day at 8am cron_expr: "0 8 * * *"
weekdays at 5pm cron_expr: "0 17 * * 1-5"
9am Vancouver time daily cron_expr: "0 9 * * *", tz: "America/Vancouver"
at a specific time at: ISO datetime string (compute from current time)

Timezone

Use tz with cron_expr to schedule in a specific IANA timezone. Without tz, the server's local timezone is used.

中文示例 / Chinese Examples

每天早上 8 点提醒:

cron(action="add", message="早安!检查今日待办事项。", cron_expr="0 8 * * *")

工作日下午 6 点提醒下班:

cron(action="add", message="下班啦!记得关闭工作应用。", cron_expr="0 18 * * 1-5")

定时执行任务(agent 执行并回报):

cron(action="add", message="检查 GitHub 新 issue 并汇报", every_seconds=3600)

北京时间每天 9 点:

cron(action="add", message="早间日报", cron_expr="0 9 * * *", tz="Asia/Shanghai")

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cron is a skill published in the GitHub repository Suge8/Bao (23 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 15 tokens to every session and 908 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
