ui-components

ui-components is a skill for Claude Code from sukirman1901/frontend-expert. It costs 81 tokens per session (895 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for building reusable user-interface parts such as pages, forms, tables, dialogs, and navigation. It covers how these parts are composed and how they show loading, error, empty, and successful states.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating or changing screens, components, layouts, forms, dialogs, tables, or navigation. It also guides how to manage local data, shared state, remote data, and responsive behavior.
Why use it?
It prevents interface code from becoming tangled, oversized, or inconsistent. It also helps ensure layouts work on phones, tablets, and desktops.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00081 $0.00895
Opus 5 $0.00041 $0.00447
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.00179
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00089

Security

Grade A, and why

ui-components scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

UI Components

Overview

Implement production UI with composition over configuration, clear state handling, and components under 200 lines.

When to Use

  • Building or modifying components, pages, layouts
  • Wiring interactive UI with /ui
  • Refactoring overgrown or prop-heavy components

Workflow

  1. Structure

    • Prefer composition over configuration
    • Separate data fetching from presentation
    • Colocate component + test + styles when practical
    • Keep files under 200 lines (split if larger)
  2. State (see also references/architecture.md)

    • Local (useState) → component UI
    • Lifted → 2–3 siblings
    • Context → theme, auth, locale
    • URL → filters, pagination
    • Server state (React Query/SWR) → remote data
    • Avoid prop drilling deeper than 3 levels
  3. Required UI states

    • Loading
    • Error
    • Empty
    • Default / success
  4. ResponsiveMUST load responsive-ui for layout UI

    • Mobile-first; verify 320 / 768 / 1024 / 1440
    • No fixed widths that break small screens; adapt tables/nav
  5. Icons (default on — do not omit)

    • MUST use Reicon for nav, toolbars, empty states, and icon buttons unless the project already standardizes another library
    • Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS: add CDN https://unpkg.com/reicon/cdn/reicon.min.js + <re-icon icon="kebab-name" size="20">
    • React: reicon-react; Vue/Svelte: matching package — see references/reicon-icons.md
    • Prefer currentColor + token text classes; Outline default, Filled for emphasis
    • Icon-only controls need an accessible name
    • Text-only UI only with an explicit waiver in the Conventions check
  6. Selects / filters (product UI)

    • Prefer custom select / combobox / listbox styled with tokens — not bare OS <select> chrome for dashboard filters and toolbars
    • Trigger: label + value + caret; generous end padding / gap so the chevron is not flush to the right edge
    • Menu: token surface, hover/selected states, Escape + outside-click close; keyboard path required
    • Native <select> only with waiver (e.g. native mobile OS picker required) — note in Conventions

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
