Tauri Custom Window Chrome
Use this skill to implement custom window chrome in a Tauri v2 desktop app.
On macOS, use the native traffic-light model: draw the titlebar/toolbar in the web UI, but keep native red/yellow/green controls by restoring the required native style masks and positioning them from Rust/AppKit. This preserves native behaviors such as the green-button fullscreen/tile popover, native traffic-light hover behavior, keyboard/window-management integration, and lower-risk OS parity.
Cover these baseline capabilities when replacing or customizing the native titlebar:
- Disable native window chrome for the target window.
- Render the titlebar inside the web UI.
- Reserve window-drag areas for moving the native window.
- Keep interactive controls clickable outside window-drag areas.
- Wire close, minimize, and maximize controls to Tauri window APIs on platforms where controls are app-drawn.
- Preserve native macOS traffic-light behavior instead of drawing macOS traffic lights in the web UI.
- Preserve suitable existing top-of-content controls by moving them into the titlebar instead of duplicating or dropping them.
- Do not synthesize a new app icon, app name, route title, document title, or other titlebar identity by default.
- Preserve expected layout spacing so content does not overlap titlebar controls.
- Preserve the app's native scrolling behavior, and pay attention to the fixed title bar height calculation when adding a custom title bar, to avoid introducing new page-level scrollbars due to page overflow.
- Recreate platform window-frame details that materially affect the app's appearance or usability, especially macOS rounded corners, window-edge separation, and active/inactive titlebar states.
Keep the scope limited to titlebar and window-chrome work. If the user wants a normal native OS titlebar with no app-drawn toolbar/chrome, do not apply this skill.
