media3-analytics-telemetry

media3-analytics-telemetry is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from sunnat629/android-media-pack. It costs 38 tokens per session (324 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide for measuring the quality of Media3 playback, including startup time, buffering, dropped frames, quality changes, preload results, and errors. These measurements show how playback behaves for real users.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to record time to first frame, rebuffering, dropped frames, bitrate changes, preload hits and misses, and player errors with the relevant media identity.
Why use it?
It turns playback problems into identifiable events instead of vague reports that a video feels slow or unreliable. It also separates network, decoder, content, and user-abandoned cases.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Good fit Use it to record time to first frame, rebuffering, dropped frames, bitrate changes, preload hits and misses, and player errors with the relevant media identity.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00038 $0.00324
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00162
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00065
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00032

Security

Grade A, and why

media3-analytics-telemetry scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Trigger

Use for measuring playback performance, scroll/reels handoff, startup delay, buffering, decode errors, and regression logs.

Rules

  • Start with streaming-media-architecture for ownership, KMP split, preload window, and telemetry.
  • Pin Media3 to 1.10.1 through the version catalog.
  • Keep Media3 APIs in Android source sets; expose KMP-safe state/events upward.
  • Register analytics before prepare().
  • Track media identity with every event.
  • Measure prepare-to-first-frame and visible-active-to-first-frame.
  • Separate content errors, decoder errors, network errors, and user abandons.

Example

exo.addAnalyticsListener(statsListener)
exo.addListener(firstFrameAndErrorListener)
  • media3-bandwidth-abr
  • streaming-media-architecture
  • media3-video-playback
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
