tesla-status

tesla-status is a skill for Claude Code from supervised-nl/tesla-fleet-mcp. It costs 65 tokens per session (363 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only Tesla vehicle status skill. It can check whether a car is online, asleep, or offline, then retrieve battery, charging, and location details when needed.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for listing vehicles, checking basic availability, reading battery and charging state, finding the car's location, and locating nearby chargers.
Why use it?
It helps answer status questions without waking the vehicle unnecessarily or repeatedly making billable live-data requests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00065 $0.00363
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.00181
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00073
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

tesla-status scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Tesla status (reads)

Use the plugin MCP server tesla. Read-only. Do not wake the car for these questions.

Tools (exact names)

  1. vehicles_list — account vehicles. First call if VIN is unknown. Do not echo VIN in chat; refer to the car by name/model.
  2. vehicle_get — cheap state (online / asleep / offline). Prefer this. It does not wake the vehicle.
  3. vehicle_data — live payload. Billable. Only when vehicle_get is online and the user needs battery, charge, climate, or GPS.
    • Battery / charge: endpoints = charge_state
    • Location: endpoints = location_data
    • Both: endpoints = charge_state;location_data
  4. nearby_chargers — sites near the vehicle.

Do not

  • Call wake_up from this skill.
  • Poll vehicle_data.
  • Dump raw VIN, tokens, or GPS beyond what the user asked.
  • Run lock, climate, or charge tools here — that is tesla-command.

If the car is asleep and the user only wanted status, report asleep. Ask before waking.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
