HTTP Request Smuggling Pentest

Prerequisites

  • Target is in scope (scope/scope-master.txt, engagement ROE).
  • Load web-app-pentest for overall web testing context.
  • Confirm ROE permits desync testing; smuggling can affect other users.

Triggers

  • Reverse proxy or CDN in front of application server (nginx, HAProxy, Cloudflare)
  • Mixed Content-Length and Transfer-Encoding handling
  • HTTP/2 front-end with HTTP/1.1 back-end downgrade
  • Inconsistent timeout or error behavior on malformed requests
  • CL.TE or TE.CL desync indicators in research or prior findings
