protect-camera-event-review

protect-camera-event-review is a skill for Claude Code from swkstudios/unifi-fabric-mcp-server. It costs 33 tokens per session (610 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only workflow for reviewing UniFi Protect cameras, event records in a time range, and camera snapshots. UniFi Protect is Ubiquiti's system for managing security cameras and recordings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check camera health, review event timelines, inspect detections, or view a camera snapshot.
Why use it?
It keeps camera review separate from camera configuration changes and distinguishes an empty event period from an incomplete or failed read.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.00610
Opus 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00244
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00122
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00061

Security

Grade A, and why

protect-camera-event-review scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Protect camera and event review

This workflow is read-only. Camera ids are Protect ids, not Network device ids. Treat images, links and recognition details as sensitive evidence. In discovery mode (the default) run each tool below through call_read_tool with name and arguments; in full mode call it directly. For anything else, including recognition detections and their crops, use search_tools and describe_tool.

  1. Call list_cameras with {"host":"<console>"}; note each camera's id, name and state from result.
  2. Call list_protect_events with host and integer epoch-second start and end (not ISO strings or milliseconds). Narrow with cameras or types; smart_detect_types needs types too. Omit limit and offset to get every event, and read _warnings.
  3. Call get_camera_snapshot with host and camera_id for the live frame; add channel or high_quality only when needed. ts asks a private route for a past frame and is unverified, so a failure there is not evidence.
  4. Report camera health, the event chronology and the evidence with the window used. Keep an empty window apart from incomplete or failed reads (incomplete, errors).

Changing camera or recording settings is a separate task: find its tool with search_tools, then read, show the change, write and read back.

Tool contracts checked against code (paths under src/unifi_fabric/)

Tool Mode Required arguments (optional) Return shape and source
list_cameras read host {result, _count} with cameras verbatim; server.py::list_cameras → tools/protect.py::list_cameras; readOnlyHint: true
list_protect_events read host, start, end (cameras, types, smart_detect_types, limit, offset, others) events with envelope, _count, _warnings; server.py::list_protect_events → tools/protect.py::list_protect_events; readOnlyHint: true
get_camera_snapshot read host, camera_id (channel, high_quality, ts) image plus {image_base64, content_type, size_bytes}; server.py::get_camera_snapshot → tools/protect.py::get_camera_snapshot; readOnlyHint: true

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
