Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00075 $0.03516
Opus 5 $0.00037 $0.01758
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00703
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00352

Security

Grade A, and why

huggingface-tokenizers scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

HuggingFace Tokenizers - Fast Tokenization for NLP

Fast, production-ready tokenizers with Rust performance and Python ease-of-use.

When to use HuggingFace Tokenizers

Use HuggingFace Tokenizers when:

  • Need extremely fast tokenization (<20s per GB of text)
  • Training custom tokenizers from scratch
  • Want alignment tracking (token → original text position)
  • Building production NLP pipelines
  • Need to tokenize large corpora efficiently

Performance:

  • Speed: <20 seconds to tokenize 1GB on CPU
  • Implementation: Rust core with Python/Node.js bindings
  • Efficiency: 10-100× faster than pure Python implementations

Use alternatives instead:

  • SentencePiece: Language-independent, used by T5/ALBERT
  • tiktoken: OpenAI's BPE tokenizer for GPT models
  • transformers AutoTokenizer: Loading pretrained only (uses this library internally)

Quick start

Installation

# Install tokenizers
pip install tokenizers

# With transformers integration
pip install tokenizers transformers

Load pretrained tokenizer

from tokenizers import Tokenizer

# Load from HuggingFace Hub
tokenizer = Tokenizer.from_pretrained("bert-base-uncased")

# Encode text
output = tokenizer.encode("Hello, how are you?")
print(output.tokens)  # ['hello', ',', 'how', 'are', 'you', '?']
print(output.ids)     # [7592, 1010, 2129, 2024, 2017, 1029]

# Decode back
text = tokenizer.decode(output.ids)
print(text) # "hello, how are you?"

Train custom BPE tokenizer

from tokenizers import Tokenizer
from tokenizers.models import BPE
from tokenizers.trainers import BpeTrainer
from tokenizers.pre_tokenizers import Whitespace

# Initialize tokenizer with BPE model
tokenizer = Tokenizer(BPE(unk_token="[UNK]"))
tokenizer.pre_tokenizer = Whitespace()

# Configure trainer
trainer = BpeTrainer(
    vocab_size=30000,
    special_tokens=["[UNK]", "[CLS]", "[SEP]", "[PAD]", "[MASK]"],
    min_frequency=2
)

# Train on files
files = ["train.txt", "validation.txt"]
tokenizer.train(files, trainer)

# Save
tokenizer.save("my-tokenizer.json")

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

huggingface-tokenizers is a skill published in the GitHub repository synthetic-sciences/openscience (3,432 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 75 tokens to every session and 3,516 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
