skills-catalog

skills-catalog is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from tallclub/matimo. It costs 71 tokens per session (1,640 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for discovering and using skills from the Matimo catalog, where skills are instruction files that teach agents how to use tools and workflows.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to browse built-in, provider, and user-created skills, find a skill for a task, and follow the recommended tool combinations and handling rules.
Why use it?
It explains the difference between a tool, which performs an action, and a skill, which explains when and how to use tools. This makes it easier to find the right instructions for a task.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.01640
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00656
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00328
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00164

Security

Grade A, and why

skills-catalog scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Skills Catalog

This skill teaches you how to discover, browse, and use skills from the Matimo Skills Catalog.

What Are Skills?

Skills are structured instructions (SKILL.md files) that teach agents HOW to use tools effectively. While tools define WHAT can be done, skills teach:

  • When to use each tool
  • How to combine tools into workflows
  • What parameters to use for common scenarios
  • How to handle errors and edge cases
  • Best practices that produce the best results

Skill Sources

Matimo has three sources of skills:

1. Core Skills (Built-in)

Shipped with the Matimo SDK. Always available. Teach agents about Matimo itself.

Skill What It Teaches
skill-creator How to create new skills at runtime
skills-catalog How to discover and use skills (this skill)
tool-discovery How to find and manage available tools
tool-creation How to create new tool definitions
meta-tools-lifecycle Tool lifecycle management
policy-validation Policy and approval workflows

2. Provider Skills

Each provider package ships one skill, named after the provider, covering all of its tools. It is available when the package is installed and loaded.

Skill Package Focus
slack @matimo/slack Messages, channels, threads, reactions, files, users
gmail @matimo/gmail Send, draft, list, read and delete email

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
